4k might actually be a meme resolution

I much prefer 1080 144fps to 4k at 60

DLSS ray tracing sits pretty much at 60fps.

Why is that less taxing than pure ray tracing

Gotta buy the overpriced 3090 for that!

Watch it still not be enough.

Lower internal render resolution

Rendering true ray tracing at 4K is just bonkers

because its a form of adaptive supersampling i believe.

I get really tired of people mentioning benchmark "disappointment" when ray tracing is on.

Do people seriously not understand how insanely graphics-intensive ray tracing is? It exponentially worsens GPU load in even the simplest games.

Hell, Quake II with raytracing runs like absolute garbage even on the RTX 2080

So if I understand correctly, DLSS is a fancy upscaled 1080p right? Heard it might be the way to go. Is that the future?

In Control, you can choose what resolution the native render is - obviously the higher the resolution, the less the performance benefit but the better the upscale. It uses deep learning to display at higher resolutions than what you're rendering.

And it really works.

this video solidly shows the differences between DLSS 4k and native 4k. its obvious that some form of processing is done and you lose some of the original texture effects, you'll notice on the closeups that the intentional washed out and weathered effects to the textures is reduced; but overall its not something you're going to notice while playing and it can often double your FPS.

and if you want a longer video.

this shows the difference between no dlss, dlss 1.9, and dlss 2.0

Honestly, in still shots DLSS might not look impressive, but in motion it's actually amazing. I can get over 60 frames per second at 1080p with Raytracing in Control thanks to DLSS on my laptop.

Control is poorly optimised for DX12.
