I always manage to wait a year or 2 to even buy a new console. I went with a friend to get his switch day 1 midnight release at a best buy and the only games at launch were Zelda and 12Switch! Not to mention the huge amount of launch problems with the switches themselves, did the same with ps3/ps4.

Got me. I got a launch PS2 that died immediately (as in on first start), so I might be soured on being in a rush ever since.

Plus, I have a current gen backlog a mile long. In no real rush this generation to upgrade.

I learned not to do this after the xbox 360 debacle. I pre-ordered it and still didn't get it for months

to show off basically "shit man I already got the PS5, y'all still on the PS4?" is the basic mentality.

The only console I ever bought at launch was the GameCube. Since then Ive always waited 1-2 years because its not like I dont already have games to play.

it's they're money as they say. on the ps3 i think i joined mid cycle. ps4 about mid.

back then i waited for a price drop and then a really good sale
ps3 back then i spent about 240$ with GTA 5 bundle
300$ i think for the ps4 family bundle (got it for lego batman 3 mainly).

I buy consoles at launch because I can afford it and I like video games. Do note though, I'll only buy consoles if they have games i want to play. Otherwise I'll wait until a game I want comes out. And the fears of launch consoles breaking is way overblown. Launch PS3, best PS3 for example. Even my first 360 lasted me like 2 years before RROD.

I was a PlayStation kid growing up, but when I found out my friends all had 360s, I made the switch.

Obvious answer to genuine questions: To play the console at launch

i didn't buy a PS4 until 2016. i only got it for persona 5. and what a game that was.

every other console game i got for it eventually came out on PC, except for kingdom hearts, but i was disappointed in that game for other reasons.

unless a big game gets announced that i need like p5, i wont buy a new console. i have my PC for now.

they did get me with the horizon zero dawn shit though. put it out on PC to get more fans, then dangle the sequel at the end of a PS5 pole. i might do it lol.
