A shadowy cabal who torture and murder kids to produce a life-extending substance, who are mentioned to be "too well-protected, too rich and established" for their crimes to be taken to the police. The crux of Qanon was ripped from a fucking Stephen King adaptation. Seriously, watch this movie if you want to know what these mouth-breathing Qanon morons think of whatever democrats their dipshit "thought leaders" tell them about.

Honestly, it was a good movie, so you should watch it anyway. Very restrained, very thoughtful, meticulously structured. It's a different beast from The Shining, but it's not a cheap Hollywood cash-in either.

It's not particularly scary to me, but it was a good movie to watch. I think it would be beneficial to watch The Shining first, considering the later half of the movie.

There are moments that are horrifying, and there are moments that are pretty spooky. But a lot of this movie is actually kind of grounded human drama, with characters talking to each other.

It doesn't really have jump scares or anything, but the horror that is in this movie is really thick and tense when it does happen.

Like I said, Doctor Sleep is a different beast to The Shining. But I think watching The Shining first would be a good idea, just to get a feel for Danny's experiences and how they affect his adult character.

I agree, the part about them being rich and all that was just said by Danny in the middle of the movie. It stuck out like a sore thumb considering how they actually live in the movie.

Maybe Qanoners are gonna point to this movie next and go "see, see! they're sending messages from inside the Hollywood pedophile machine!", and equate Ewan MacGregor to Donald Trump.

Doesn't sound like it's for me to be honest

I don't do well with scary. And to clarify, far cry 3 is scary to me (albeit manageably so)

I agree with all of this. The villain was interesting, but not particularly frightening, intimidating or imposing kept getting rekt by the protagonists and really never got a strong foothold on things. Definitely enjoyable, not really scary at all, also felt a bit toned down as Stephen King style but in a good way, like it takes itself as seriously as it feels it should, no more, no less, and stays consistent with that throughout. Had some really interesting visual sequences too.

Yeah, if you scare easily I might not recommend this movie.

Here's a litmus test - how would you feel watching a movie with kidnapping and torture? Not for the whole thing, just one scene where someone is kidnapped and tortured. It's played really straight, and it's really grounded - not excessive and gory, like Hostel or a Quentin Tarantino movie, but it's not "action movie" torture where the kidnapping victim gets a few cuts and scuffs and breaks out of detention, like Rambo or a Mission Impossible-type movie - there is blood, confusion and terror involved.

If that sounds like a bit much for you to handle, I wouldn't recommend this movie for you.

I don't mind gore, it's horror I mind

If you're familiar with the Hannibal series with Mads Mikkelsen, gore like that wasn't a problem. On the other hand, I had to quit the game Outlast after 2 minutes cause it was getting to me >_>

It definitely leans more on the horror, imo. If anyone else could chip in, that'd be great.

It's on Netflix over here in Australia, I'd recommend watching the first 15 minutes or something to see if any of that gets to you.
