I know I'm in the minority, but I didn't like Thanos in Infinity War.

I didn't feel strongly about the character in Endgame, but I didn't feel negatively about him, either.

Ive been very vocal about how annoying people are about ranking Infinity War over Endgame but this is just ridiculous now that people are ranking literally the same character in two movies.

IW by far. He was hardly the same character in Endgame.

IW was far FAR better.

He had a clear motive and goal, he had a personality and his character was the best and biggest thing about IW. He was actively pushing the story forward by collecting all the stones.

Endgame Thanos was a boring fuck. He didn't do anything, even sat down waiting for Nebula to literally fetch the gauntlet for him, and his only motivation was that he succeeded in the future.

Endgame Thanos definitely had the better dialogue.

Neither. They turned him from genocidal space conquering Titan that is in love with Death herself, into a tragic, relatable, ends justify the means type villain. Was lame af.

I see them as a contiguous character because Infinity War Thanos never got to see the outcome of his lifes work. The prevailing thought in his mind is that he needs to be right and the universe will thank him. Everything else is secondary so if that DOESNT happen and a bunch of ungrateful mortals undo it all, that will always be his last straw. You can weigh it all against the sacrifice and pain he went through but for me, at the end of it all, it stops cold at defying his vision. Do that and its over; everything has got to go and no one will be spared.

IW Thanos because unlike Endgame Thanos he didn't do what he's basically been doing for the whole act and sit around waiting for shit to happen.

his only motivation was that he succeeded in the future.
I think this is his biggest flaw. He thought he was unstoppable, and all his work was done for him. So there was no depth to any of his actions, and he just kind of expected to win without too much trouble.

IW Thanos also believed he could win, but knew he'd have to fight for it. That it'd be a difficult task and that the heroes would defend the stones with all their might. EG Thanos just kind of expected to steamroll everyone no problem because his future self had done so. I think that's why they put such importance on his "inevitable" line, it perfectly outlines why he fails.

Work in progress, please be patient.
