East Bay Burglary Suspect Re-Arrested Hours After Release
The 32-year-old suspect who police said is a transient remained on "searchable probation" this weekend, Fremont police said.

FREMONT, CA A 32-year-old transient remained on "searchable probation" this weekend, Fremont police said, after he was arrested twice last Wednesday, the second time about five hours after he was released from jail after the first arrest.
Fremont police said Gabriel Lopez was arrested Wednesday after officers saw him casing the businesses at the Mission Valley Shopping Center.
Lopez was arrested on suspicion of possession a stolen pickup truck and on three outstanding warrants. The stolen pickup had been observed at the scene of numerous other commercial burglaries in the past month, police said.
Lopez was booked at 9 a.m. Wednesday into the Fremont Jail and released soon thereafter thanks to Alameda County's "zero bail" extension.
That same day, at 2:22 p.m., Lopez was arrested again for possession of another stolen vehicle and trailer.

He was issued another citation with a November court date, police said.
Detectives have linked Lopez and the stolen truck to numerous other commercial burglaries in Fremont.
In several cases, Lopez and an associate are seen wearing construction vests despite not being construction workers. Two cases have already been charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, both scheduled for November court hearings.

You know, if bail still existed, he probably would be locked behind bars, instead of committing more crimes.

Just sayin.

Bail shouldn't exist. The concept that you can buy your way out of jail is fucking stupid as hell.

The first mistake is thinking a transient has the money to post bail.
The second mistake is thinking that, if California actually had a functional justice system, after the first time he was caught, that he would continue to be released

You need to stop being an apologist for criminals.
