Scream 3 was close to starting production when Columbine happened and the whole plot had to be scrapped. Then Scream 4 comes out, is actually a super solid movie, and gets overlooked as a cash grab. Then the TV series comes out, same story of an amazing premise getting written off by too many people. And now Scream 5 is happening, but Williamson wrote the script for Craven before he passes :/

Scream 4 was a cash grab, and a really bad movie on its own. Only the first one was remotely decent.

Not really. The second one is pretty decent but the third is terrible and the fourth is completely forgettable. They just had to keep upping the twist because it was one of the pillars of the first movie but it was always ridiculous.

Lol @ thinking Scream 4 wasn't a cash grab. A sequel released more than a decade after what was supposed to be the final installment is gonna be exactly that. Film was full of lazy nostalgia pandering and cringy shit.

And yeah, the other sequels were soulless cash grabs as well. None of them actually added to anything; the first movie had no loose ends or anything that needed to be explained in a sequel. Like, let's see here.

First movie, Sidney's boyfriend and friend try to kill her.
Second, Sidney's ex-boyfriend's mom and college acquaintance tries to kill her.
Third, Sidney's half-brother tries to kill her.
Fourth, Sidney's sister and her friend try to kill her.

For fuck's sake, how much bad luck can one person have? These movies are stupid.

This isn't really a criticism, more so just the truth, but the best thing to come out of the Scream franchise is the WASSUUUUUPP ghostface in Scary Movie

What was the original plot of scream 3?

Craven was supposed to direct Scream 5 but passed before Williamson finished the script.

Also, anyone that judges the movies solely on the twist should be judged harshly.
