Yeah I wouldnt try too hard to connect the older Xeno games to the new ones, they arent really related at all aside from a handful of thematic elements.

I finished all the Alcamoth stuff and now I'm at level 90, where I can start to handle the Tephra Cave stuff.

If you do plan to go far enough to be able to get Love Potion, that's another way to grind for Affinity.

Yeah, I've seen that it's basically worth an entire level of Affection, but you can only trade one item to get it and only certain high level monsters have it. The main character lagging behind everyone is Riki. The others are slowly but surely getting there.

This game tried to play the long game with all this Giant's Treasure business and that's all I got out of it? What an anticlimax.

There's definitely a sidequest chain you should 100% do (maybe you've even done it idk) but I don't remember enough details of its earlier stages to point you to it. Only the last part which is the best but describing it would spoil it.

any true xenoblade player knows of what i speak though so maybe they can help

Well, I'm trying to make one last sweep for sidequests since I don't have anything active right now.

Mainly because I got a future flash for an item I picked up and I haven't found the sidequest it goes to yet!

Which item is it?

I forget exactly what it's called, but it's some Slobos item, and the flash talked about Peppino, so I know it's a Colony 6 quest. I've tried talking to him a couple times but nothing happened.

Depending on who you invited to Colony 6, you might not be able to do that quest (you get a different quest line instead).

Yeah, I knew there are some things you get locked out of based on who's there, but I feel like it would be weird to get a flash about a sidequest I can't do.

I think you still get the flash even if you can't do that quest. I know it at least gets marked with an exclamation mark in your inventory.

Well, I just looked it up and apparently it is a sidequest I'm locked out of. That's weird.

Not sure which quests I even have left at this point.

The sidequest chain I'm thinking of is about the Red Pollen Orbs I think. I think you can do most of it before you even reach the Mechonis but IIRC the last parts unlock close to the end of the game.

I did most of the red pollen stuff earlier, but I haven't seen anything else pop up.

I just looked it up and apparently it expires after Mechonis Core. Maybe you did complete it then? How did it end, if you remember?

Well, I've scoured every area a couple times to be on the safe side and nothing new has popped up, so I might be ready to move on to the new epilogue unless there's something you guys think I still need to do.

I'll probably just watch the rest of the Heart to Hearts on YouTube

Not that one. Have you completed the Frontier Village Quest "Evidence Collection"? If not, you're missed the quest chain.

I don't think I did. Not sure why I missed it because I was routinely going back and checking all the towns for new quests. I guess I failed to talk to someone to trigger it.

Okay, I've started the Future Connected epilogue in Xenoblade.

So Riki's kids are just copy/pastes of Reyn and Sharla in terms of movesets lawl

I don't know if I'm just about burned out on Xenoblade at this point or what but an hour into this thing I'm not really feeling it

I do enjoy fully voiced Heart to Hearts though (or whatever they're called here)

Unfortunately, Future Connected is largely considered a step down from the main game. A lot of the Quiet Moments are pretty good, though.

I definitely got burned out on Xenoblade even towards the end of the main game.

There's some good story moments up through Mechonis Core, but for reasons I can't quite articulate I felt the game experience as a whole peaked at around (is this a spoiler?) the Fallen Arm. (Then there's also the ending which I just didn't care for at all, although the final boss fight is cool I suppose.)

I'm closing in on the end of CS3 Chapter 2 Field Exercise Day 1 (All the VIPs just arrived; Class VII about to investigate the last cryptid) and I almost forgot this "take Rean would really like to take back by the end of the game" from earlier in the chapter.

Aurelia: "It's good to see that [Cedric] has some fire in his eyes again though."
Rean: "I agree."

It's definitely fun looking on some of these events knowing the whole story to try and pick up on things I didn't notice or fully understand at the time on the first playthrough.

Played a bit more Future Connected and I'm warming up to it a bit. Visiting the ruins of Alcamoth is pretty neat. I always enjoy going back to a location after it's been changed in some way.

I'm reading through a script for Heart to Hearts, and I didn't realize the conversation noticeably changes based on the choices you make. I figured it was similar to something like Persona where the choice was largely for bonus points.

I do like that the conversation doesn't totally die even if you pick wrong each time, too.

I listen to the Tony Kornheiser Show podcast, and he has Jeff Ma (gambling expert) on every week to pick NFL games he likes based on the spread.

And every week he picks the Jets because he keeps insisting the line is too high, and I just want to yell at my phone to stop picking the Jets. The line is never too high.
