yeah, that was the second time after choosing to restart the battle. but he went to all the trouble of getting the mask, he may as well use it.

It does make a joke of Majora. Majora's not particularly difficult regardless, but it's definitely overkill. The player's reward for collecting all the masks.

I've always wanted to see the lore behind that mask and Majora's Mask expanded on. (I'm aware of the Majora's Mask comic book, but that's not quite what I had in mind.)

The first part from two years ago when he was just trying to charge through as fast as he could, he did. The second part from this year when he took the time to do the sidequests, he mellowed out a lot and actually gave it its dues a fair bit.

He s*** on it three years ago then he read up on it and returned to it this year to do all the side quests. He enjoyed it more knowing what to do and having the items to make it easier.

now when i replay it i get the mask and just don't use it. i'll try and use it against some of the other bosses and it makes some fights harder to only use it. think the deku boss is the only one easy with it. maybe the stone tower boss if you can use it. i forget if you can or if you need to use the giants mask.

In the N64 title, Goht is the only one that the Fierce Deity Mask really struggles with. You can defeat the others with energy slashes. You can defeat Goht that way too, but because he turns and runs when he takes damage, it might take more than one cycle to get him.

IIRC, if you get the FD Mask right before fighting Majora, you can't use the other transformation masks for the fight. So you have to use it for Phase 1, at least.

He has his moments. I don't watch his reviews for comedy, though... I watch them because Dunkey shows off the sillier side of games and gives me a pretty good idea how much fun I'm actually going to have playing them. I balance that by watching the more serious reviews as well and that gives me more of a complete picture what type of experience I'm in for.

Just like his sequelitis, he shits on something but then comes to appreciate it. I'll never forget even in the JonTron era for Sonic 06 when they were fighting Silver, Arin had the audacity to ask "Is there any way to lock on to him?" while taking a big shit on the concept of Z-targeting in his sequelitis video.

It's funny, you probably know this, but from what I hear, Fierce Deity was just a god Majora really hated. Majora was so egotistical, and thought itself so highly that it thought it could defeat the Fierce Deity which is why it even gives you the mask. Majora wanted to prove its superiority and instead, FD shows Majora just how outclassed it always has been. Kinda a sad way to go for Majora, I bet if that mask ever got released again, it'd think twice before giving someone the "press b to win" power-up.

This is one of the most trash takes I've ever heard. Game Grumps are god awful and try way too hard to be funny. Dunkey doesn't put out super high quality videos these days but at least he isn't forced

It's interesting though, isn't it? Termina doesn't have the three goddesses like Hyrule. What role did the Fierce Deity play there? How did its spirit wind up sealed within a mask? Did it protect Termina from Majora in times past? Why does it so closely resemble Link? Majora's Mask was a game that elaborated quite a bit, so for the Fierce Deity's Mask to be so vague just makes it more interesting to me. I know the real-world reason is probably because it's just intended to be a prize for beating the game so thoroughly, but I'd love if they expanded on all this.

Unfortunately I'd imagine we're a far cry from ever returning to Termina.

I would say the vast majority don't, no.

However, most actually pay vague attention to the tutorial or will look up the controls though unlike Arin who refuses to read them, then complains the game doesn't teach the controls. Or refuses to use the mechanics of the game, then wonders why it's hard and he can't play it the way he wants.

Arin is frustrating to watch with how bad he is at games. Which makes him frustrating to listen to as he rants about how bad a perfectly reasonable game is because he's too proud to admit he's **** at games.

I don't get how he can play games this much his ENTIRE LIFE and yet never develop 'gamer sense'. Can't figure out controls, can't figure out basic puzzles, slow as molasses at piecing together information a game presents him.

That sounds dreadful. AVGN has moments like that, but few and far between. Even then, it can be hard to watch. I can't imagine someone who is like that constantly being any fun to watch.
