I know people complain that the Mulan remake changed too much from the animated movie but that's what I wanted. Non stop comedy to the point where it's obnoxious and it really doesn't feel Chinese. I was reading that the people making the film looked at westerns and British and American historical epics for inspiration on how to design and stage scenes and action. Would have been better if they'd looked at the countless action films made by people of Chinese background instead. The problem is that they are creatively bankrupt and rely on nostalgia.
