The Celebration edition is on sale for pc for $11.99. I heard online is pretty much dead so that leaves single player content. Just curious if it's worth it to buy only for single player.

It was free on PS+ a while back and the multiplayer is God awful outside of the space combat, which was fun. Never played the single player but seeing as how it looks to be an after thought I would assume no.

Its fine, its as enjoyable as any other multiplayer-focussed FPS's single campaign is. Its nothing to get excited about, but I didn't think it was bad. I also got it on sale for like, 5$ and I thought it was pretty solid.

I can say basically none of the benefits for multiplayer are found in single player. You can play what amounts to online games with bots, but everything EA did to fix the game was targeting multiplayer.

The single player campaign is a remarkably mediocre afterthought with a rather boring story considering the concept that spends half of the time with dumb "play as this movie character!" missions and really boring level design. Basically just shooting the same dumb grunts for the entire game and not much else.

The last mission and the free DLC are probably the highlights.

I'd put it below the average Call of Duty and Halo game personally. Probably comparable to other DICE campaigns.

For that price, if you are a Star Wars fan, i'd say yeah go for it. I liked the campaign personally, didn't love it, but it had it's moments.

Bear in mind my experience is based on the game's beta and the game at launch (probably put 50 or so hours into it between the two modes):

Singleplayer campaign - Thought it was better written and explained more than Episode 7 tried to (didn't see any of the movies after that tbh). The campaign is short and can probably be finished in about eight hours, give or take an hour or two, been a while since I played it. For the first couple hours you're playing one character specifically but then they started throwing in random characters and it started feeling like a tutorial for the Heroes vs. Villains mode online to be honest -_-. I also liked the idea of the starship levels but they are ultimately *extremely* short and one dimensional.

Multiplayer - Actually felt like Star Wars, it looks beautiful and the maps were really well designed. That being said, matchmaking felt broken af and matches almost always felt extremely lopsided. And I don't know anything about post-release content so I can't speak to that.

Steamcharts has 636 players in the last 30 days, peaking at 1,184. This is global however.

It's pretty crazy how long EA has missed out on money due to their insistence on trying to make Origin a thing.

The game only recently (in the last month or so) came out on Steam from what I remember. A lot of the community is on Origin.

Also the community might be on the way out since I believe they released the final major content update recently.

Origin doesn't release player tracking data, but according to the game's sub on reddit, it is more popular on console than PC.

Yeah from what I remember the community was never really healthy on Origin.

Oh I know, I'm just saying Steam shouldn't be the main indicator here.

And unfortunately yes a lot of EA's shooters get more playtime on the consoles. It's really disappointing because I actually enjoy the Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare games but they are basically DOA on PC :(

I think things will improve dramatically when the games launch day one on Steam. Worked out really well for Fallen Order.

I don't know, we'll see. Non-mainstream FPS in general don't hold up well on PC - even some of the big titles die out pretty quick, like Call of Duty.
