Trying to see if I can opt out if they are. This seems like the dumbest thing to me. Getting less money taxed now, but then doubly taxed starting in January to make up for it... I don't see a point in doing that at all.

Your job probably doesn't know yet. I work at an accounting firm and the people are still trying to figure out how they're going to handle it.

Shouldn't it be easy?

Like I know I could tell my job to start deducting MORE taxes than necessary and get more back on my next year's tax return...conversely I could tell them not to deduct shit and they could do that as well.

These are payroll taxes (social security, medicare), not income taxes withheld. So they would still need to keep track of everything until they finally pay it.
