Actually, for all the talk of losing hands, one thing sticks out to me: The Jedi have a cornerstone on the laser sword market, aside from the Sith. Sith exist to hunt Jedi. How has neither side ever once made armor of some sort that resists a lightsaber blade? Historically warfare has boiled down to "I made armor to stop you from killing my guys." and "Yeah? Well I made a new weapon that makes your armor useless." Then they go back and forth until someone invents guns and makes armor useless.

Those rolly robots from the prequel trilogy had some sort of energy barrier that the Jedi didn't think they could pierce, which is why they ran away instead. I think the only weakness was it had to lower the barrier to shoot because blaster bolts couldn't get through either.

I didn't mind it. I just wish they gave him a sword style that relied on/used crossguard as attacks.

I've always thought "why not just use the force to turn off your opponents saber? Or disassemble and scatter it? Hell I'll go one better: lightsabers are near useless to a force user. How? If I were a Jedi/Sith, every battle would start the same: me using the force to pop their eyeballs and or testicles LMAO

There's 2 ways to get a red crystal. You can manufacture an artificial one, but they're generally not as powerful. Or you can "bleed" a normal one by essentially using the force to pour your own dark energy into it and corrupt the crystal. The bleeding process is extremely difficult and both physically and mentally taxing. It also has a decent chance of simply causing the crystal to explode and kill you.

I don't know what explanation they went with for Kylo's, as I never bothered to look into the lore for his. But I always just assumed his crystal was cracked because he screwed up the bleeding process. His whole schtick was that he was super strong in the force but couldn't control his emotions. So I just figured he messed up the bleeding, but he was so strong that he was able to basically just use brute force (no pun intended) to prevent the crystal from exploding completely. So he ended up with an unstable crystal to thematically match his unstable emotional state. That's my head canon, anyway.

The synthetic crystal was the old canon, it's just bleeding now as far as I know. In the Kylo Ren comic series you see him bleed his crystal and that's when it gets damaged as you guessed.
