According to media sources we're facing the worst of the Covid although according to media sources it began in China. How did hit us the hardest even though China is on the opposite side of the World?

States are too fragmented. People are too dumb. Though I would bet money China didnt actually get out of it as smoothly as they claim they did considering all the cover ups. Doesnt take away from the USs failure though.

1) the mutated version of the virus here is more virulent than the original version that spread there.
2) our president decided it was better to let people die when he learned it was initially going to strike democratic-governed states, and tried to blame the outcome on governors.
3) our culture is so individualistic and egotistical that people are unwilling to listen to public health advice because it would require they inconvenience themselves in some minor way and admit that they are vulnerable.
4) billionaires are paying for sponsored content masquerading as news media that has spread lies about the virus in order to keep their stocks high.

How many people really died in China? We'll never know. And if you believe their media, you're a fool.

Because what no one is discussing is the terribly poor health of the vast majority of Americans, in comparison to the majority of the developed world where they eat real food more often and get vitamins and minerals. The average American eats processed crap all the time and has a severely weakened immune system due to poor nutrition, making the US categorically the most susceptible to any pandemic amongst any of the developed world.

America is ruled by a party that sees Covid as their best chance to end democratic rule, so they've intentionally made the situation worse than it otherwise would have been. It's very difficult to argue that there was ever a good faith effort made on a national level to contain the virus.

Absolutely different approaches in government.

In China, the government has absolute control over every aspect of a person's life. They saw the outbreak flaring up, they locked everything down - shut down inter-city transportation, airports, deployed police and military to keep people locked up in their apartment buildings, and used surveillance systems to warn / detain people who tried to wander outside without permission.

In the US we got a president who says, "It's just the flu it'll be over in a couple months when it starts warming up" and who practically made it his mission to set up obstacles to states to get resources they needed to test and control the spread of it. He encouraged and empowered idiocy so we're stuck with it for now.

Differences in government.

The Chinese government took charge of the situation quickly to try to contain it. They could quickly put out strong measures without much concern for civilian disobedience. Also, note that tightly control the information that came out meaning the real numbers are very likely much worse.

The American government took a gamble that it would fizzle out before anything serious and put their efforts more toward "keep the economy going" rather than contain it early. It did not work out. By the time serious measures started taking place, the virus was now considered political and a number of Americans decided to actively defy the recommendations.

And yet we Americans claim to be number 1. Number 1 in failing!

The virus also mutated when it got to Europe and became 10x more infectious than what the countries in Asia had to deal with. The US has mostly been dealing with the European strain.
