I have two CapitalOne MasterCards (Savor & QuickSliver).
A Visa through my bank with pretty great rewards.
Discover It
American Express Blue Cash Preffered

I just closed on my house and was thinking about getting a Lowe's credit card for all of the small home improvement projects I want to start. It gets a 5% discount.

Are there really any store specific cards I should be aware of?

Any other major cards I should look into?

My credit is nearly perfect.

Some clothing stores have great initial deals where you can get a lot off, pay the card and close it

Also best buy card is useful if you're into electronics

I use microcenter

The Amazon store card is also worth it probably but I only use the regular prime rewards card because I've heard nothing but horrible things about synchrony bank.

My primary card is the Visa Signature card from Amazon (managed through Chase), as a Prime member you get 5% points on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases, 2% on gas and... restaurants maybe, 1% on everything else.

Points don't expire and convert to cash for Amazon purchases *but* if you log in through the Chase site to manage it you can redeem those points for traditional credit card rewards like cashback, gift cards, etc.

I just got the Lowe's card. It's through them. The verification process was ridiculous. Had to take video of myself and take pictures of my driver's license and call them twice. I have this feeling that the first time I try to use it, it's going to get locked.

Just use your bank reward one. You don't need that many credit cards for little perks. They influence you to spend on unnecessary things.

Yeah. Amazon offers 2 cards. 1 is basically just a regular Chase rewards cards except instead of rotating rewards categories it's just 1 category that is always "Amazon and whole foods"

The second card is a loyalty card with the same benefits as well as 0% financing on purchases over a certain amount and it's only usable on Amazon but it's issued through Synchrony.

I have a microcenter card that is the exact same thing for microcenter but instead of synchrony it's Wells Fargo.

@Tyranthraxus the Amazon card from Chase also has rotating bonus awards for specific purchases, like 10% back at Starbuck's and stuff like that. You have to opt in to em manually though.

This, the Amazon store card is good, but there's no reason to use it when there's a standard Amazon rewards card that can be used anywhere. I guess if you want special financing for large purchases it's good for that, but I don't recommend getting into the habit of doing that if you can help it.

"Special financing" or long term I believe charge a hidden admin fee so you end up paying a bit more if there's no interest. That's the problem with credit cards...if you can't afford it don't buy it.

The only credit card I use is from Chase, and has Amazon rewards attached to it. 5% of anything I buy from Amazon, 3% from gas stations and restaurants, and 1% of all other purchases I get back as Amazon credit.

I don't use it that much, but it's nice getting a couple extra bucks for Amazon every now and then.
