I feel so ugly with my eye looking half closed. Got some drops that supposedly help and using a warm washcloth to speed it up. Anyone else ever had one and have tips?

Yeah, the air in Vegas even is all hazy. Can't see the Strip from as far away as you normally can.

Wow. Hows the air quality? California seems to mostly be on fire. Napa is burning again.

I know this may sound weird but about 25 years ago or so, I had dreams that California was on fire, like re-occurring dreams. Not every night, but I would have em every so often over years. I always kinda figured it was from reading/watching the stand and a spin off of the Trashcan Man, but it was specific to CA......and very realistic.

It's a trip that those dreams have basically come true within my lifetime.

Yup. Wildfires are sadly common here.

Even though it's been only 5 years, it seems like so much longer since I left CA. Back then we had a drought for like 7 years, but still didn't have the fires like in the last few. They started not that much longer after I left though.

It's just weird, I didn't have dreams about earthquakes etc, just fires. In some it was just fires in others it was some guy setting them etc, but the general theme was CA basically burning down as fires raged all over.

Still have tons of friends/relatives in CA so I hear all about it, and uncle lives in the malibu hills and was fighting the fires to save his house a couple years ago.

Even with all that i'd still move back if it wasn't so expensive (but it would have to be to the bay area cause I can't do the heat in most of the rest of the state). If I could still teach (my eyesight has gotten to bad, I can't even see a cell phone without a magnifying glass now), I would move back, but I basically won't be able to afford it anymore.

I really miss the Bay Area though:(

now? I remember hearing about California wildfires even back in the 90s. Some of it is human caused but some of it is just part of the natural ecosystem

I lived in CA through all of the 80's, 90's 2000's and through 2016, almost 37 years, and we never had fires like the ones they have had recently. There were fires but it wasn't at all like this, there were not power outages etc.

It all started almost right when I left actually, at least to this extreme.

Take a wash cloth and soak it in hot water. Im talking about as hot as you can stand. Like fricken HOT.

Then press it up against the stye for 20min. Do that as many times as you can a day. AT LEAST 3.

I know it sucks but thatll speed things up.

What are you talking about? I grew up in SoCal and fires have been a yearly thing in Cali since before the news existed.

Sometime between 2002 and 2004, I woke up in Lemon Grove, CA and drove to my job in La Jolla. Looking east from the Torrey Pines Golf course, you could see 3 distinct plumes from 3 wildfires.

The only difference now is humans stupidly built communities in the places that fires burn yearly, where they knew fires burn yearly!

No, it doesnt pop. Its really rare that you ever have to lance it. But when you do... it wont be you doing it, itll be a medical professional.

Hang in there. I know it sucks, and itll take a few days before you actually start feeling better... but you can do this. Just keep applying the hot washcloth to speed it up.

Well I lived in the Bay area and while the hills were on fire a few times, it wasn't ever a big deal. I certainly didn't have realtives and friends telling me they were fighting to keep fires from burning down their homes.

Maybe there were fires, but malibu for instance wasn't fighting them off their front door steps.

At least that might explain the dreams though, if there were fires I was just dreaming about them spreading, but at least they already existed.

My parent's home (my childhood home) has always been safely away from the fires, but every year some new neighborhood built in the fire zone was in danger.

Yeah, I vaguely remember some fires but just nothing like what I have been hearing lately, and nothing close to me in Hayward/alameda/fremont etc. My uncle lived in LA and I never heard of fires near him (and he's lived in Malibu since V.I.P aired (since he bought the home with the money from that), and just the year before last he was fighting to keep his house from burning.

Mainly it's probably just it being televised more and being in areas I actually have relatives, but I honestly lived in the Bay area for 30 something years (last 7 or so in Gilroy CA which isn't really the bay area anymore) without ever smelling smoke or seeing a large fire. There were a few brush fires on the side of the freeway etc, but nothing big.

It was pretty awful here in Bakersfield. It looked like it was foggy all day with as much smoke as we had blowing in over here. That thick smoky haze helped keep us out of triple digit temperatures though.

Wasnt too bad today where I'm at (moderate)

Work is pretty close to the SCU fire.. managers handed out evacuation cards so we know the closest exits from where we are etc

They only normally do that when a fire drill is about to happen.. but according to my manager, one wasnt happening anytime soon :/
