A 23 y/o Whacko from California drove 1700 miles to Texas to KILL, 18 y/o Matthew Thane to "settle the score" over a CALL OF DUTY game on XBOX LIVE..and after SPEEDING back home to Cali, the man COMMITS SUICIDE!!

Police are investigating an online gaming dispute between the men that sparked the violence and may reveal the clue on why the man drove so far just to kill someone over a spat on the live gaming service of which some say was a trolling match between the men

Matthew was shot dead before 6am just as he walked OUT of his house by a man wearing a helmet and jeans according to police

The suspect set a propane tank on fire outside his house to lure him outside to his death

Early on they believed the killer was acquaintance whom he had met through online gaming but a look through cellphone data revealed the man, who hasn't been named, traveled from his home in Pleasanton, California to Flower Mound, Texas and then drove back to Cali all in 72 HOURS

Police arrived at the suspect's home to execute a search warrant leading to a standoff with SWAT officers but he had already shot himself dead

They found evidence connecting him to the murder as is identity and official cause of death is pending that could take several days

A Gofundme page has been launched for Thame, a gaming enthusiast who went by the name "JPN" or "Japan" on the XBOX Live Service

The fundraiser said Matthew always put a smile on people's faces and was one of kind.

The gaming community knew him from their Call of Duty matches as one friend who lived next to him said "RIP Matthew Thane, nothing but love and thoughts and prayers to this family who were such amazing neighbors and friends to me growing up".

Because technically thats not hacking. He was basically using an ip address lookup tool. Its basically the reason why google or clickbait as in the from the bttom of this page is able to target you with ads from local businesses. This is one of the arguements for vpn service. While a person can still track you odds are they are already on a federal watch list and were just looking for a rando target

Also remember any game lobby you go to for a 4 player game has 5-6 ip addresses in use. 4 for the players. One for the host. One for the services provider
Example
1. Sideshow bob
2. Bart
3. Milhouse
4. Rod Flanders
5. Microsoftservice Xbox live
6. Freemiumgames

While simplified thats basically the information that is viewable from the players side. Sideshow Bob can then elimnate the 5-6. He has been stalking bart. Milhouse only oined 3 games ago abd rod has been on longer than bart. So now he has barts ip addess. He can get the city state and possibly pool region. He also goes to barts xbox page and gets his name from there. So now bob will have a name, city and state.

Its not hacking just like a person looking at tagged photos of a person on facebook and then using a phn or background check tool to get an address. If anything this is phishing.

Never said it was acceptable. Just say saying its cause and effect. Now not everybody is gonna harm the person mouthing off but their is a smaller set of people who will engage into fights or self harm.

Saying just be nice to people and dont cross anger lines. If this guy told the agressor good game wanna team up next week do you think it woulda had the same outcome

Also the best example of pissed off people making things worse is road rage, especially when pared with a stund you ground state.

I wonder how it worked so well? Every time I looked myself up on one, it never got the nearest city or town even correct. Usually has the right state though.

They have pay services that are relatively cheap also given that the swat moved on him so quickly he probably used some dark web tool that put him on a watch list. I mean think 3 days he killed the kid and himself and the swat found him. Either he left his drivers liscense on the seen or they had a remarkable amount of witnesses at 6 am

Don't say people they deserve to get killed for making someone upset online. Learned that one a long time ago, not a new thing to get modded for saying extreme things for minor reasons.

Never said he deserved it. I said he caused it. Being toxic online can lead to real world consequences. If you sufficiently tick off someone there is no telling what they will do.

Seriously no telling. Probably a person bullied a lot that snapped. The CoD community has a toxicity problem. Even the worse you see people get into it here cod has no moderation to speak of. You report them to xbox/sony but the abuse is steady until then.

My wife had a stalker that followed her around in the game. It took three months to get it to stop. He targeted her because she was trying to game and a 2 week old cried. Why would that enrage someone to the point that they would barge into lobbys just to put someone down. Thats why I say treat everyone like a psycho until proven otherwise.

Also the people getting defensive over the idea that it can be dangerous to rile people up because they dont know who they are upsetting are probably the same people who abuse their anonymity to harass people online they think deserve it.
