You get an extra month before having to pay it off vs debit/cash, and if your credit card is compromised, the bank will spring to action immediately to resolve it, because it's their money on the line. When it's your debit card, they can take a few weeks to resolve it, and you're often out of that money while you wait. And credit card give points, miles or cash back, which make them even more valuable.
