Really good game. Ultimately the only real issue is the lack of check points. The shooting mechanics are eh, and hopefully 2 improves them at least somewhat, but man I need checkpoints.

Still really not sure what exactly has me so into these games lately but I'm just gonna ride this wave. After 2 I guess I'll move on to 4 and see how I like that, though I'm not super optimistic.

Oh yeah the story was actually really pretty good. The characters actually had time to breathe a little and it seemed like there was more attention paid to characterizing even bit characters.

Oh yeah I should have established that I played 3 remastered first, I went back and played 1 and now plan on going to 2

The story in 2 is genuinely emotionally involving and just about gets the balance right between dumb humour and serious drama. There were some moments that I came close to crying.

The gangs are also cool as fuck. Very stylish and cartoony.

Game is fun, a little rough around the edges but fun throughout.

I've never played the first game, could never find it to buy anywhere.

As much fun as I got out of Saints Row 3 and 4 I wish the series had stayed significantly more grounded.

There were certain beats in SR1 that actually verged on emotional in a way that nothing in 3 ever did, but not to that extent. The voice acting was all pretty top notch especially for the time, too.

I did like Michael Clarke Duncan in the first game. Also, How did you finish the game? By that, there are a series of Epilogue missions that lead you in to SR2.

SR1 was my favorite out of all of them but I can understand why many choose SR2 as the best. It is definitely the better game, if that makes sense.

I never beat SR3 or SR4 but I honestly couldn't stand them. The SR world created in the first one was my so unique. And SR2 did amazing to expand on it. I just hated the over the top goofiness of the latter two entries. Too much for my liking.

SR1 multi-player was also badass back in the day. Some of the most fun I had with online gaming. Hell, that entire era. Gears of War, Halo 3, CoD 2, and man, CoD 4. Ugggh to be a stoned teenager again taking turns with the boys.

Lmfao so to start with the last part, it definitely brings me back to playing San Andreas way back in the day. Definitely one reason I'm so into it

I came at it from wanting a GTA style game on switch so I got sr3 and really scratched that itch. I get where you're coming from, I liked it but if I'd been playing the series since 1 it might have rubbed me the wrong way (that's why I'm not optimistic for 4)
