My biggest gripe is the shitty Amazon Flex app I do all the stuff on

The scanning device they give us is fast enough (although it's Android + 3 navigation apps running so it's gonna get rekt with the battery) but the app has its own shitty proprietary navigation that has no idea how to reroute, will force you to deliver packages in a way that makes no damn sense sometimes (such as delivering a package to a house you just walked past AFTER delivering to a further house first, meaning you carry the package way past its destination if you're not paying for) but apart from that it feels like Uber with actual consistent pay or something

I look goofy wearing a sweatband out there but the alternative is looking like I was in a Gatorade commercial so

Would these return to where you were houses make you turn left to get access to earlier?
Normally delivery routes are mapped to use as few left turns as possible because it will save you both time and gasoline in the long run.

yeah, I was a UPS driver helper last winter season and there were a couple houses that left out drinks and snacks to take and a thank you message to delivery drivers, it's nice to see/get during peak when they get like 10+ hour shifts with a truck literally jam packed with packages and whatnot

I'll let you know when I get my first check

But it's shaping up to be close to $600-700 a week

Nope, usually they're on the same street

But instead of delivering the packages in order from closest to farthest, they want you to deliver to the farthest house on the street first, then do all the houses on the way back. If you had a big box this means more repeat trips to the van and wasted time

Any in particular you were thinking of

I always have a bottle of 80% alcohol sanitizer, some antibacterial wipes and a mask hanging on my chin (only put it on when indoors or meeting someone at their door, too damn hot otherwise)

Thanks frens

If only people cared as much when I do Uber, that has a selfish rep for some reason, even now

I'm glad I'm not using my own car but at this point I'm kinda over making dozens of stops a day

I sometimes leave my van in one spot and just walk down the block to deliver packages, because I hate to drive up to a house and find out its on a major road or something

Are the vans all loaded up already when you arrive for your shift, or do you have to do some of the loading and organizing yourself?

Being dropped because it's so fucking top-heavy, I'd imagine

lolno, food delivery drivers being tipped can be a rarity so I doubt the trend of doing so for proper essential workers will catch on, especially since there's no more lockdown

Buzz Killjoy posted...

god I wish. No, we have to go to the warehouse and load up the bags and oversized packages ourselves at the beginning of each day

I've never had a more irrational contempt for diapers like this before

It feels like Uber Eats with extra steps and a significantly shittier app

The pay is significantly better than UberEats either way so I'll just grin and bear it, at least until I get a newer car anyways

Story time

Wanna know why I took the full 8 hours to deliver everything today

Been delivering to apartments like these all day

The way it works is that the numbers are stacked on top of each other, meaning that 280 is a floor above 279 which is above 278

So naturally every fucking person who has a delivery lives three flights of stairs up

Did I mention we're supposed to spend an average of 2 minutes per package

Can't do that with all these fuckin' STAIRS

Normally I'd just leave them at the bottom of the stairs like my managers recommend, but I'm supposed to follow all customer notes, most of which say "Hurr deliver to very top of stairs so I don't have to climb them you do kek"

They're usually dense/heavy ass boxes too, people be ordering Ikea furniture I swear

50 packages or so at these apartments + almost always top floor= hella leg gains I hope

Next time I order pizza for delivery that fucking driver is gonna walk to my side door for a change
