I always took liking Harry Potter to be a liberal thing more than a millennial thing, but I guess it's all perspective.

Oh sweet Zoomers.

Its hilarious watching them pick on a generation that has since grown out of their age range. Were blessed to not have the internet be what it is today while we were at that age though. Every embarrassing dumb thing they do is immortalized forever now. Shit can go viral in an instant and suddenly theyre a laughing stock to the whole internet.

Once they have some distance hindsight, theyll look back in embarrassment like every generation before them.

You want a slice of how dumb and ridiculous zoomers look just go on TikTok for an hour. Youll see some of the worst dancing a human can do. People so young and gullible they have no idea 80% of the videos are fake. And every comment section is a complete copy and paste dumpster fire.

Every generation has their number one thing they almost all were into as kids or teenagers, that becomes a permanent cultural touchstone and something they will return to out of comfort well into adulthood.

For zoomers, it's Marvel movies.

For millennials, it's Harry Potter.

For Gen X, it's Star Wars.

For Boomers, it's the Beatles.

And so on.

The Harry Potter hate is REALLY weird to me.

This is coming from Someone who grew up around it but never bought into it. So I have no loyalty to it whatsoever but find it extremely pathetic these kids would take blind shots at the fandom for literally no reason.

Im legit thinking its some kind of jealousy? Like what do they even have that they can geek out about? Cant even claim Marvel movies, at best they share them with millennials like myself. Star Wars again is owned by everyone and theres not much there to go bat for these days.

Like I said. I never bought into it but have grown up around it my whole life. Never once have I decided to go out of my way to interact with them, nor are they knocking on my door trying to cast spells on me or getting their quidditch balls lost in my backyard.

Harry Potter is responsible for a great deal of millennials taking up reading as a hobby. Unlike most fandoms, it was actually pretty beneficial to its fans as opposed to just being an obsession..

Theyre always annoyed at the fact they knew they're going to be renting forever, whereas Gen Zs know were just not going to be able to buy a house.

Sherlock Holmes fans back in the day actually harassed the author to keep writing stories and when he killed off Holmes, there was immense backlash to the point he had to bring him back. Like people, complained in newspapers and stuff.

Honestly, the worst of each generation ends up representing the lot because they stick out more. Sorta like biting into a tangerine with a rat turd in it, sure tangerines are good but that turd is gonna be the taste that lingers in your mouth.
