I mean who decided they are the experts when it comes to a subjective topic? Recent one in the headlines is national rum day. Seriously isn't the best rum the one that you, not me or any anyone else enjoys the most.

I mean what qualifies someone else to tell you what taste better. Its like the butter side up vs butter side down. People will argue but all of a sudden someone puts expert in their title and the believe they have an objective opinion.

It is, but publicized rankings like that should be treated as an opportunity to explore new rums that you might enjoy better. In particular, paying attention to the analyses used in making those rankings can help you to better understand what you like about your favourite and look for similar traits in other rums to let you find others that you might also like (or even a new favourite). At the end of the day, "this rum is better than the one you like" is elitist nonsense, but paying attention to the process by which that's determined has potential value for everyone.

Usually they don't say "this is a better rum" they usually say "this has a woodier/smokier/etc.ier note".
