I'm talking about people who become completely obsessed, and not in a good way. You know what I mean. The fighting game guy, who's got thousands of hours in Street Fighter 2. The first person shooter player, who "trains" for ten hours every day. The driving game fan who wants to have the world record for such and such a track in a certain game. The RPG guy who spends hundreds of hours doing everything in each Final Fantasy.

You know exactly what I'm talking about...especially since there are people like this on THIS VERY BOARD.

So. Which genre produces the worst effect, do you think? Personally, I would say fighting games. People become pathological about that stuff, and it keeps me awake at night. Partly stuff like Soul Calibur, DOA, Street Fighter, but more stuff like Smash. You hear some real scary stories about top tier professional Smash players.
