I've always used the rough part because you know, logically it should scrub better. But my neighbor swears the soft part cleans better.

soft if you're just spreading the soap to clean it normally, rough if you need more scrubbing power.

I normally use a brissly brush to scrub the dishes beforehand.

...actually, now that I think of it, the sponges I'm using right now don't even have a rough side.

depends on what i'm washing. if it's some kind of non-stick or something that can scratch off, i use the soft part. otherwise, i use the rough part.

Soft for almost everything. Rough for what the soft part doesn't take off.

A thing that goes in the dishwasher.

If you're using cast iron pans which can't go in the dishwasher you should be using steel wool instead of a sponge or you'll fuck up the seasoning of your pan.

With cups and bowls, I use the rough part on the inside and the soft part on the outside. That way, any scratches are less likely to be seen. On plates, I use the rough side of the sponge on the top to remove stuck-on food and the smooth side on the bottom.

This is how it's meant to be used.

Rough side on stuff that's sticking to your dishes, soft to properly go over the dish itself.

I invested in one of those top tits Maytag washers for like $900 and I can put whatever in there and it's clean when it's finished. You guys can come do dishes at my place if you want.
