Both were crying when we moved them over, and now one is hiding in the closet and the other is wedged in a corner. I wish I could help them :(

Awwww. I feel the same way anytime i have to drive my cat anywhere. Fuck does he hate cars.

Cats have a tough time having to leave a familiar place. They are super territorial. 3 years ago I moved from WA to Alaska. We drove up and me and my cat slept in the back of my dad's pickup. My cat lived in that truck for like 3 weeks until we could move into the new house

They will adapt in a few days. As a cat owner my entire life, i've unforunately moved 9 times by now, and it's always a difficult few days for the felines. They will figure it out and be okay though, just put out familiar items, blankets, toys, beds, stuff that smells like them.

Seclude them to one room for awhile, let them get used to the new noises and smells for a week or so.

I tried that with my cat last time I moved. She just ignored them.

I don't think I've ever taken a longer car ride with my cat where she didn't throw up

Do you have something familiar from the previous place like a particular scented spray or candles or a cat tree or something? I don't really know if that helps, just wondering.

Yup, we've got all that and made some real effort towards them, just gonna take time

Mine doesnt throw up but he mews in the saddest most desperate kittenish way even now. It breaks him mentally for some reason.

same with nearby cars. I cant walk him during the day cause theres just too many cars around and he freaks out.

My cat is an inside cat. So I'm moving, obviously I was worried about my cat, so I decided to not drive, which would allow me to hold her for the entire trip (about 45 minutes).

I take her outside and she digs her claws in my arm immediately. She still clung to me as I sat down and shut the car door. She freaked out once the car started. She was desperately trying to escape to the back of the car. She settled down after about five minutes.

I put her in her new room at the new house as I unloaded everything. I gave her food, water, her bed, toys, and a litter box. She moaned sadly the whole time, it was visceral. I brought her stuff to my bedroom and let her stay with me. She was pretty quiet while in my room, but I could tell she was uneasy. She eventually started to follow me around the house, sniffing everything in sight. So I set up her stuff in her room to be and she took to it this time. After that, she purred constantly for like a week and sat in my lap for the first time since she was a kitten.

It was funny when we moved to the new house and the cats were just bundled up in a blanket in the bedroom for the first couple days. Finally they started exploring, totally love the place now.
