Newton and Liebniz just... deduced out calculus. Why just these two individuals, suddenly and individually, created a whole new field of math? How do you go about inventing new math? Does this still happen? There's a problem people want solved so you just... figure it out with New Math?

You mean they invented a way to explain the workings of calculus?
Somebody really smart might one day figure out a method that makes it easier to explain. --- SaltyWet ... Copied to Clipboard!

they figured out how to solve certain problems. calling it "inventing new math" makes it sound weirder than it is

Isn't calculus embedded in many natural principles? It's not hard to discover and formulate it if you're constantly experimenting and studying.

They didnt invent calculus, they discovered it (although even that isnt the best word for it).
BTW, I would be really interested in reading a book in the history of calculus, if anyone has any recommendations --- i.imgur.com/mkGoWsg.jpg i.imgur.com/mkGoWsg.jpg i.imgur.com/mkGoWsg.jpg ... Copied to Clipboard!
