I prefer ports, compilations and remasters on my active consoles (PS4, Switch and Wii U). Those consoles have modern conveniences that I like.

There are games I want to play that I could buy the original console for, but I don't care to do that. I'd play it for the novelty at first, but then it would just go neglected. I'm currently playing Grandia on Switch. I think I may have my old PS1 Grandia disc but playing it on an actual PS1 or PS2 doesn't appeal to me.

I mean yeah, I only play older games if there is no modern port of it. Helps cut down on clutter and also gives more people a chance to play older games that may have missed them. Sadly, most games are going to be locked to their original release

There's no pretending. There's noticeable input delay playing these older consoles/games on a modern tvs that you don't get playing them on CRTs. It's all about the post processing of the video signal.

I like retro consoles and games for collecting purposes. Every now and then I do like to play them. If any games get remade or rereleased on a newer console then I do tend to play that version.

Like without my drive to collect and hang on to stuff then I'd probably never own classic consoles as that is a big driver behind my actions.

In addition, graphics were designed with CRTs in mind. This is why digital rereleases of classics never look quite right on our flatscreen standards.
