On that note it doesnt help that many people who played FFV probably only played the anthology version which strips away most of the character from the dialogue rather than FFV Advance.

Anthology wasn't the best translation, but most of the "character/humor" in the Advance translation wasn't in the original version to begin with.

I'm sure they were less bland, regardless of whether they were quite as silly

Either way, original intent doesn't much matter. All that matters is what people experienced. People aren't not voting Kefka cause he was darker before Woolsey got a hold of him or whatever

Its good to just save normally and force tempo, and who knows, maybe gamefaqs goes down and you get another set of saves anyway.

All technically true, but I can't forget Day 11. I didn't hold and a very spicy boot didn't happen as a result. I can't not hold now!!

Faris is cool but I don't think FFV did a very good job making any of the characters memorable other than Gilgamesh. Also with the job system, none of them have iconic designs like Kain or Cecil, which back in the SNES days was a huge part of the character because they didn't have the technology to give the characters as much depth as they can now

Galuf is a far more emotional spoiler than Aerith, imo. And he and Faris are both great. I'll admit they get waylaid by Bartz and Lenne being generic as fuck though.

Also V Advance was pretty fun, but aside from Galuf and Gilgamesh I don't know that there were any real greats among the cast. Bartz and Faris were likable enough though.

FFIV I'll freely admit I have a lot of nostalgia for. Couldn't tell you how many times I beat it as a kid.

You know, I was thinking about making a commitment out of SMFFFC like I do with SMFAS: replay the game that the winner comes from. It would at least force me to not put off a long-ago replay which is basically every game outside the PS1/2 generation. That would be the quickest way for me to replay FFIV!!

.....though I can't see how I would play Crystal Bearers, I'd limit myself to watching FFCC The Movie. Ditto Bravely Default, cutscenes on youtube. And I could do the free trial for FF14.

Other than that I'd have every other game covered. Though I may have to replay the FFXIII trilogy first if I was gonna go retroactive (maybe skip 13-2, easily skippable)... also the only FF in my gaming "to play" list at the moment is an FFXV replay but maybe that'll get pushed off for another year.
