Never played a vn but was expecting obvious menu choices so it was a bit before I realized the phone was the choices.

A lot funny, like the characters, interested in the mystery of sern etc

But man its slow. At times I was like yeah I get it this is character development but man they could chop a few hours easy stil I feel like its gone so long its gone from dragged out and back around again to me not actually wanting to see their little lives torn to shreds; now Im just worried when shit is going to hit the fan instead of eager for it. Ha.

Also the current rewrite Lukakos gender plan is so bad from a timeline altering aspect since it goes sooooo much further back

this is probably it this plan is going full stupid ; from a butterfly effect perspective I mean

The actual desire is a lot more sympathetic than the other stupid things they tried

Damn, oh well. Ill look it up for the second try then. Ive been picking up the phone and responding to every email so loose lips Rintaro has basically spilled the beans to every single character in the game except the shop manager at this point.

Actually no, theres Lukakos dad. I think literally every other reoccurring character including the shop guysd daughter tho cuz you can hear every damn thing they say from the street *facepalm*

Still in chapter 4 in the bit where he keeps insisting Lukako is a guy. Not sure if Lukako is transitioning here and calling her a guy is rude or if Lukako was changed from a time swap and calling a boyish person a guy is rude that way but either way Rintaro seriously needs to read the room

In earlier cases he needs to explain why he is confused (like the shops changing) but here he should clearly back off, apologize and seek more information... something changed and hes just making an ass of himself when he should have realized by now this kind of thing is happening with the d-mails...

They keep setting this flag that someone is going to pick up the wrong call and get someone elses memories. Theyve said it over and over now. This is early chapter 5... this experiment is going to be a doozy. Every time I think is this where they go too far? and at least as far as I can tell, theyve slipped past disaster by the skin of their teeth.

Of course if all the ominous dream sequences and weird emails are to go by, not to mention the unexplained prologue incident, weve been fucked since day one, probably because of thjngs we havent even done yet gotta love time travel uguu

During a party, the game has basically asked us to look back and remember the good times. Its basically up there with lets take a commemorative photo! for doom flags.

I was wondering before why Moeka shit her the second time when the first was a response to Rintaro fighting back and she seemed somewhat reluctant, yet the second time he stood there in shock and she just did it with no warning, yet still said the same stuff afterward. Like it had to happen and that was the easiest way.

Okaaay shot by a cop for basically no reason. This isnt america, cops dont shoot for no reason oh man it hurts cuz its true.

5th: Shot by cop who for some reason thinks shes a terrorist who set off the bomb in the mall that goes off this loop

6th: Gets a lot of info from ambushing Moeka, but gets caught, escaping in time for the lab assault to get Mayuri again.

7th: Chat with Kurisu leads him to try going further back to try and formulate a plan

8th: for reference its 8/13 at 1:45. He made a real point of mentioning the date last loop and this time its both date and time. Conferring with Suzuha who was using the John Titor name as I had suspected for a while now; I also suspected the satellite was her time machine.

This and the fact Kurisu helped (probably against her will) to make the sern time machine also makes me think when Rintaro saw themsatellite on the roof way back in the original worldline it was her coming back, and that she killed Kurisu that time... but it didnt work.

Somehow the original email was involved in a way Im unclear on. Perhaps that was related to why she missed her landing the second time? Thats mysterious still.

So current plan is fix the tome machine to get an ibm.

9th: a quick leap so his next leap could go further back

10th: 8/11, 2:21. This is the furthest back yet and should be hardest to prove he can travel personally....

dang that went surprisingly well. Thats one hurdle at least.

I mentioned the Mayuri and general trouble death flags earlier... Suzuha is now giving off her own intense death flags. Uh oh. Telling everyone how nice it was to meet them and having friends etc.. and she was like this may be my only chance to say this

11th: guess Suzuhas time machine wasnt fixed last loop. Best new lead is that pin.

Having to switch world lines beyond 1% divergence to change causality enough to save Mayuri is making it a lot more complex than for Subaru who could basically fuck up whatever as far as I can tell...

Yeah I guess Ive been stupid and just followed the path of least resistance.

I still havent grasped how exactly to use the phone. Although I have checked some of the d-mails in Rintaros history even when he didnt in plot, and Ive spotted emails appearing and vanishing from his inbox due to temporal events... even ones he didnt mention like call the Lukako emails disappeared after he became a girl.

Go back to your save where Suzuha is about to leave and send the D-mail when prompted.

Well fortunately one of my multiple alternate saves was just before I didnt send the d-mail, so I can quickly go for an alternate ending

I see what you mean about the warning when I can use the phone

So now I got to chapter 7... a chapter I didnt get last time.

If you want to get all the endings, make a save each time you're prompted to send a D-Mail and then choose not to. You'll get moved onto a specific ending, then after you finish that you can load your save and move onto the next chapter and so on.

I agree, unskippable text you've already read can get annoying. Luckily the vast majority of VNs don't do that. One thing that I really hated about Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward is how often text in different saves is changed only enough to prevent you skipping it. It's usually just who says it. Like "Robert: I found a rainbow door" then in another save "Sarah: I found a rainbow door".

You almost always should load previous saves in VNs. In fact if you even read any guides for 100 percenting them, they usually tell you to select various options then "make save 1". Then more various options followed by "make save 2". After beat the VN the guide will usually say "load save 1" do various options, then "load save 2" do various options.

Also damn this game is getting mean, first Rintaro has to undo the lab gangs tome with Suzuha, and now he has to re-kill Fariss dad.

I feel like this is just going to be a suffering conga line as I undo every good thing the time machine ever did one after another ugh... but that doesnt really deal with sern taking over the world so I dunno...

Dating sims don't refer to VNs where you date people. Plenty of romance VNs have multiple people you can date but aren't Dating Sims.

If you enjoy Steins;Gate, take a look at Chaos;Child when you're done. It's set in the same universe as Steins;Gate.

A dating sim is a game genre originally (and still usually) used to simulate dating. There's typically time management, and some kind of stats being taking into account, like maybe you need to improve your athletic skills to win a competition in order to meet a characters. Visual novels are basically just a choose your own adventure book turned into a computer programme.

Yeesh. By the end of this Rintaro is going to be like, Well I saved Mayuri and also Im the worst. Time to go walk into traffic.

Yep. I'd say Ace Attorney has more inspirations from VNs than most adventures games, but I'd still call it an adventure game with VN elements over an actual VN.

Poor Lukako. Her ending is really sad.

Suzuhas was unclear and Fariss worked out strangely well despite the issues... I mean he can always make friends with his old friends again; they both already know Faris. The real issue is if Sern is still going to conquer the world or not; Im not sure how much their success has to do with the labs success.

Would they manage it anyway? Did they need to kidnap them to achieve it?
