Some people want to carry on their bloodlines etc. For me though, I have always cared for people my whole life, and I like/love making the people I live with lives better. I get joy out of seeing happiness in others and I would have loved to have raised kids, given them a good/safe life and at least one parent who loved them and provided for them. It would have been very fulfilling, given my life more meaning, and I could have hopefully instilled my values in them, so they would go out and make the world a better place, and their kids would eventually do the same. There are many reason to want to have kids, but it's a very personal thing and different for everyone I think.
