Welcome to the King of Fighters 2020 (NOT MERCS) Simulated Character Battle Tournament!

The game is simple. The two* listed characters are placed in an (imaginary) location with a variety of (imaginary) environments, kind of like a picture in a child's schoolbook that describes different types of geological features. Within a ten mile radius, there is an (imaginary) urban downtown, exurbs, plains, snow-clad mountains at the edge, dry plains, etc. Fighters start wherever is most appropriate for them, but feel increasingly compelled to seek out their opponent and fight. Strong-willed fighters can try to hold out in their chosen environment for longer... eventually, all will succumb and actively search for the other to battle.

To participate, just vote in bold for whichever character you believe will win. Giving reasoning is optional, but please be polite and read what others have said and carefully make your decision. I'll ping the nominators (they can opt out) to give arguments if they wish.

there's at least one game where Kirby has a bunch of powers that he can just call on whenever, so he probably has most of what he's known for available from the start?

one of those is the same as his copying ability too so he could still copy someone he can't eat

Kirby is basically cartoon physics meets god-destroying powers. He's survived black holes, planetary explosions, and several Lovecraftian gods

1. lasers and energy blasts
2. blasts of magic
3. poison
4. all sorts of weaponry
5. many enemies simultaneously
6. His opponent's healthbars

but honestly the way I see Kirby winning this? Sin is composed of pyreflies. Kirby essentially does this to them:

I don't doubt that Kirby can punch a planet in half or punch an asteroid into orbit or any of that. My question is: is he likely to do that in direct combat with an opponent? Do we ever see Kirby punching a boss in half? If we don't, it just might not be in his personality to do so.

Of course, Sin might not measure up to a typical Kirby final boss either.

For all the value Kirby has, I'm going for Sin. Kirby has a lot of power, and has invaded small ships to destroy them (partly due to incompetence of the crew on the Halberd) but kirby isn't out and out invincible, and the extreme regeneration of Sin in combination with his natural gravity abilities is rather dangerous. (Also I would not give Kirby access to a Miracle fruit as part of his powers)

this is a question that's sort of impossible to answer without making a lot of assumptions. for example, maybe Kirby is punching DeDeDe strong enough to split a planet in half, but DeDeDe is durable enough to take that much force without exploding. how could we possibly know which interpretation of these events is more accurate?

one thing I am sure of is that if Kirby's life was in danger he is not going to hold back. to me, that's an asinine argument. unless you have evidence of a character being the type to hold back (like kenshin), I don't see why you would assume that any given character would just randomly refuse to use the full scope of their power under penalty of death.

what character in all of history has ever gone "oh my 5% power punch didn't work. I guess I'll just die.'

Kirby, like most powerful opponents, uses as much of his power as he needs to in order to get the job done. I don't see why that would be any different with Sin.
