you're leaving out a lot of information with this question TC. that's like asking is it possible to jump out of a car, without explaining if its parked or going 100mph down the highway...

Anything is possible - people have survived falls from cruising altitudes without parachutes. But I wouldn't personally want to risk those odds...

People have even survived hitting the ground inside the plane. Shit just gets way too random when talking about extremely dangerous stuff like this. It's highly unlikely that any one event will kill 100% of people caught in it 100% of the time save for raw matter-destruction type things like stratovolcano eruptions or nukes.

Yeah, I've always been fascinated by those crazy medical marvel stories of people who survived stuff like falling off of cliffs while rock climbing or having a piece of rebar go through their skull in a construction accident.

Craziest story I ever heard of was a guy who shot himself in the head through his mouth, lived, and simultaneously cured himself of the seizures he was having (after recovery in the hospital)

Second craziest is probably Rasputin who drank enough Cyanide to kill like 40 elephants or some shit and when they tried to stab him to death after they ran out of cyanide he beat the shit out of them.

Rasputin was eventually murdered but holy shit dude had more lives than every cat in the world combined.

The people who survived falling from planes landed in bushes, trees, or the one person that hit a snowy mountain side. They all still broke a lot of bones.

I won't say it's impossible but hitting water from over 200 feet high is just like hitting concrete. YouTube has videos of guys breaking the world high dive records. Some of them break bones and that record is 192 feet.

There's been at least one case of a guy surviving after a parachute malfunction hitting nothing but the ground (I guess dirt is a little softer than concrete but still, the dude bounced off the ground and lived).

He was hospitalized for like 3 months or something.

Interesting. I haven't read about that. I'm gonna look it up. These stories fascinate me.

The parachute one I just talked about actually has a video documentary. Forget the name of it though.

Ive always been fascinated by gravity.

Like if we drop an ant from 2 feet up, relative to its size thats the equivalent of a human jumping off a cliff, and they just land and carry on with their day.

Possible? Yes. Probable? No. Some people, out of desire or necessity, deliberately train their bodies for ground and shallow water fall-impacts of a few meters (less than 20 feet).

IIRC, Rasputin, from the injuries noted in reliable historical records, died from exposure (freezing air temperature).

He was dumped in the freezing water and left for dead. He died from exposure but was still very much killed.

Diving pool water is oxygenated, and often temperature controlled, to lower its density and reduce surface-tension effects. Calm, cold, ocean water doesn't have this.

What you are talking about is *closer* to what cliff divers, not sport divers, expose themselves to physically.
https://ats-press.blogspot.com/2013/04/top-ten-facts-about-cliff-diving.html
.

Btw, trained emergency rescue divers do not dive head first or from excessive heights to minimize the chances of damage to gear and of bodily injury.
