They don't need to, the US is already doing all the work by self-destructing. And they don't want to because that would make other nations intervene. The entire point of dividing the US is to weaken it. When a country is weakened, it loses global influence. With Trump pulling out of the WHO and ripping up all treaties, the US has essentially lost its influence. Everyone are laughing at Americans and ignoring them. Africa is now refusing their help because they know they are better off without them, which is a huge change. Russia profited from the situation by increasing its global influence. The communist countries now have more global influence than the US and its former allies.

You're right. it should be by popular vote, aka the only thing that guarantees equal representation, and not the antiquidated and senseless EC.

It doesn't make sense why more populas states should get punished, anyways. There are millions more Red voters than all of Wyoming, you know.

Plus electoral colleges are often exploited to optimize the number of seats for a single party. They adjust the borders for the best possible results. GOP is particularly guilty of this.
