Wow I saw you label Higher Power as Alt Metal and immediately thought "The Hardcore band? Or just another band with the same name? Probably that since I haven't heard of them in years." Same band and damn they are completely different now. Bands getting old sucks. First it was all the Metalcore bands turning into Hard Rock Djent, then the Pop Punk/Emo bands turning Shoegaze, now it's all the HC bands turning Grunge.

Yeah the new Higher Power doesn't sound much like their older stuff but I still really like it hahah. I think bands evolving is a good thing; rather have them switch genres than create progressively tired and/or poppier versions of their old albums over and over again.

Yeah but when it's EVERY band changing to the same genre is it really "different"?

Oh yeah I probably should have mentioned that the two newer songs I heard just then were very enjoyable actually, I don't dislike it at all. It's just like "Damn, another one? Try getting into I dunno Jazz or Drum n Bass" or something, you know? It's always the same three genres they jump into, makes it not so big a leap anymore when they're like the 12th band doing it.

I've barely checked out anything new this year, but I have been playing New Found Glory - Forever and Ever x Infinity almost daily since late May. Great summertime album

Mest - Masquerade (pretty fun album)

All Time Low - Wake Up, Sunshine (decent, but most people probably wouldn't care for it)

Eminem - Music to Be Murdered By (pretty decent for a few listens, but isn't great for re-visiting. Kinda boring honestly)

I was looking forward to Weezer's new album, but who knows what happened to that

Thats all the new music released this year I've really gone through

it had some solid tracks but was too hit and miss for me

for legacy hardcore acts I thought the Cro-Mags album was better

some great hardcore/metalcore/grindcore this year imo:

Loathe - I Let It In and It Took Everything
Xibalba - Aos en Infierno
End - Splinters from an Ever Changing Face
