Just curious to be honest. I had a dog that I had to put to sleep a few years back due to kidney failure. It took an emotional toll on me, and I'm still affected by the death of my dog every day.

Shmoopy Goopy will never die. I won't accept it.

She's getting pretty old, though. Not sure how long I've had her, but it's gotta be over ten years at least. Ninety-nine percent of the cats in this town originated from her bloodline, lmao.

Im 30 yrs old and have never lived in a house/apartment without a pet other than about one month after I initially moved out of my parents. Ive unfortunately gotten used to losing quite a few dogs/cats throughout the years. It sucks but it is what it is.

My current cats are both 3 years old so hopefully they'll have a long time more to live. Most of my pets have lived long and happy lives, but I had a kitty have to be put down from kidney issues at only 6. That one hit me hard. She never got to grow old.

Shit sucks. My dog had kidney issues at age 8, fought it off for a year and a half with meds, but we had to put him down at 10. If he never got it, he would probably would have lived to 14 or 15.

My cat turned 11 in January but we got her last February when she just turned ten. Her owner had to go to hospice so she was surrendered to her original shelter and we just could not let that poor sweet girl suffer there and not be adopted. Best decision I've ever made. Our cat that passed a year an a half ago was about to be 19 and was my wife's first pet when she was 10.

I try to make sure I internalize all I can with my interactions with them. They are wonderful and so chill that I want to give them the best end of their lives. I still cry from time to time thinking of the animals that I've had that passed. The 18 year old cat really fucked me up because it was my decision, not anyone elses. I still struggle but she had a mouth tumor that was so aggressive and she didn't eat for weeks. She was still there mentally but she was fading way fast. It really sucked

I'm actually slowly becoming obsessed with making sure my cat is healthy by having filtered water and an enticing fountain to drink from to protect from kidney problems. I'm also looking into a food booster that will give her much more nutrients that will help her live longer.

My cat is 17 and was diagnosed with early stage kidney disease about 4 years ago. At the time I was incredibly sad because I thought it would progress really fast and she would be the youngest cat Id lost (previous ones have lived about 16 years). Luckily it has progressed way slower than I thought, but Im still relieved when I first see or hear her in the morning and panic a bit at any sign of illness.

not ready to lose my dog yet she's only 9 years right now.
very old for a very large dog.

the only problem she has is arthiritis and maybe being less active a bit but other than that she's happy if her human's are around.

My cat turned 14 this year and I'm not ready. I always think about it, but I'm never ready. He's as healthy as can be and we've never taken him to the vet. Nothing's wrong with him or has ever been wrong with him. But he only has a few more years, and I'm not ready.

No. And the fact that of my original three cats only one is left makes it worse.

I am super sad about my turtles dads.

When I was younger I kept my turtles in horrible conditions. Because I didn't know any better when I first my turtles the internet wasn't around much less full of good information. However I learned how to take care of them. I changed the tank, gave a full tank of water, as basking area the works, and few weeks later he died. I was so upset because I did so wrong my him for almost 15 years, then when I started to do things right he died :o( .
