hes not though.

he just needs to move inside the spear head and hes the obvious favourite by a mile.

the odds of getting close are better than the odds of a debilitating blow immediately.. cmon

like thats literally not even the intent of a spear. a dude would toss his spear and go for his ssword if possible should a dude get inside that initial thrust.
Ok then. Shorter weapon just as good as longer more maneuverable weapon

swords have their uses, but spears are easier to train people to use and are more versatile. there's a reason why most soldiers in classical and medieval era armies used spears

agreed
the reason spears were very good throughout history is because it requires minimal training, easier to produce than swords, AND its super scaleable for armies, the armies part being the most important factor

even in 1v1 unarmored combat, spears dominate due to it being super hard to break through a spear's effective range.
but then in 1v1 ARMORED combat, it becomes a more general thing of polearms dominating vs swords. still, swords (2h swords in particular) can stand a bit more of a chance than the unarmored scenario, as swords get to have more options while still being able to use mordschlag to break armor.

also whoever said "yeah just move inside the spear head lol gg", thats kinda the hard part.

I've read that when you get super up close in full plate the preferred weapon is a rondel or bullock dagger. Wrestle them down and stab in the pits or eyes

Only thing you can really do with a sword in armored fighting is half sword or hit with the guard and that's for goobers

Spears and axes were the most common weapons in the middle ages because most armies were made up of peasant levies and most peasants knew how to use some form of hand axe. Spears were because they are essentially a pointy stick that is incredibly easy to mass produce. Swords required training, which meant it was relegated to nobility and was generally your personal walking around weapon, or during a battle as a back up in case your primary horseback weapon broke, usually a spear or lance.

He also glowed red

Anyway I posted a video proving me right and haters suck

Obviously a guy with a sword against a spear could win he was just at a disadvantage and Hollywood has made us think swords are the best weapons always. They are not.
Funny,I'm serious though since its recorded history that he was unusually tall and his Red Hair was also real. One of the tallest breeds that had incredible stamina.I read he actually used a trident but the games gave him a more stylish weapons.

Edit: A plain trident without the axe blade on it.Yeah spears that big on a battlefield would be terrifying when throwing a sword around.
