Nah the game is pretty good. Its got some issues, but it runs smooth, looks beautiful, combat is fun, enemy types are fun and varied, smart enemy AI, and a great at times / bad at times story. Averages out to pretty good game overall.

This. TLOU1 was a good game and they only improved on it in almost every way with the sequel. I'd even consider the story as more ambitious, though admittedly the larger focus on multiple characters hurt the development of the side characters to the point I didn't care that much about most of them.

They need to come out with a multiplayer mode for TLOU2 so that the gameplay can truly shine, because I had a really good time with the combat/stealth mechanics.

What do incels have to do with people being butthurt about the main character from the first game dying in the second game and not being avenged? It might be babyrage and entitlement but it literally has nothing to do with being an incel.

seems to cover it fairly well. gameplay is solid, looks great, many of the characters are fine. but the plot is a depressing downward spiral and they way they get rid of the MC of the first game was convoluted and designed purely for shock value.

i havent played it yet but so far the critcism ive heard that makes the most sense other than 'how dare the lesbian character still be a lesbian in the sequel" and "how dare this girl have muscle mass!" is that the pacing as problems because they split the story between ellie and abbie which makes sense from a thematic standpoint but killed the pacing and since ellie didnt see the abbie gameplay she had no reason to let her live cause nothing about her storyline so far hinted she would have done that

As someone who has no interest in the game because the genre sucks and triple A gaming sucks and it looks fucking ugly, I do remember that fans of the game won and were vindicated by its huge success and the people bitching about it were wrong and look like fools. Forevermore.

I disagree that it was convoluted or for shock value, it falls in line with the kind of world that TLOU is. Actions and choices have consequences, in this instance it caught up to a character that the players got attached to. Pretty much all of the characters have their own shit and darkness that they carry, Joel's shit just caught up to him. Death is swift and sudden, sometimes it's random and sometimes it's not. I give them kudos for not being scared to tell a story, and not give me a Game of Thrones Long Night redux where there is ridiculous plot armor for fan favorites.

Yeah. I didn't like the Santa Barbara section of the game because I didn't want Ellie to continue her pointless quest for revenge. Glad she came to her senses and realized she wouldn't have closure if she ended up doing it. It certainly didn't help Abby with her revenge.

Man when they were walking toward the boats I tried so hard to walk Ellie in the direction of their boat so she could join up with Abby and Lev and was so sad the game wouldnt let me do it :(

The intersectionalism between people who became rabid about that thing and incels/redpillers is pretty extraordinary. It's pretty clear that the most passionate "critics" of the game are using That Thing as a plow to push through their additional ideological concerns about women in video games, muscular women, "transpeople" (irrelevant but hey!), lesbians, gay representation, ect. They realize That Thing is the most substantiated critique of the game and using it to sneak in ideological critiques. It's basic Alt-Right behavior. They do it with everything.

For me my biggest critique of the game is that it was building up crazy momentum and then suddenly lets its sails out completely halfway through the game. I still enjoyed the 2nd half, it was just jarring and felt like starting a whole new game.

I think TLOU2 story opinion is 100% dependent on your opinion on Joel's choice and the Fireflies.

If you think Joel was completely morally correct and that the Fireflies and anyone who associates with then are irredeemable evil terrorists, then you will never like Abby.

I don't think either Abby or Ellie were wrong given their trauma. It's funny watching people try to explain how Ellie's emotions are more valid than Abby's with anything beyond "I liked the first game".

Yeah, I would kind of agree. I wish the B Plot was more compelling. The A Plot between Ellie and Abby was a great idea aside from some execution issues, but it kind of clashes with the conflict with the Seraphites in terms of the moral lesson it's teaching as well. Like, revenge killing is bad, but who cares about all these dead Scars they basically have it coming lmfao.

I know Joel made the correct choice in TLOU, saving Ellie from literal mad scientists who were going to murder her as the first step of researching a vaccine (it's literally impossible to vaccinate for fungal infections).

I loved TLOU2 and think Abby is a well realized fleshed out and understandably flawed character. The only issue I have with the story is pacing, other than that I'll probably replay 2 over 1 now given the substantial combat improvements.

I dont think Joel was completely morally correct but at the same time I 100% was rooting for him during that run through the hospital during the first game and definitely saw the Fireflies as the bad guys. Their plan seemed half-baked and desperate, not at all worth risking a life (especially my surrogate daughters) over. In other words, I dont think the first game did as great a job as Naughty Dog thinks at portraying the moral ambiguity of the situation. Part II elaborated on this and now I feel he was in the wrong to take Ellies agency from her, but then again the Fireflies also did that by not waking her up to ask her first, and I cant really blame Joel too much after everything hed been through. I also still think their plan was desperate and half-baked but less so now.
