Not really bad per say.

There were a lot of good Nazis just following orders and knew nothing of the horrors of the concentration camps.

history should be looked upon with perspective rather than going Nazi man bad.
hitler bad... yes
Himmler bad
mengele bad etc

however not all Nazis and the like were bad.

Damn, I didnt my bad.

however at the time blacks were viewed as subhuman... Thus eliminating them from that perspective makes sense. Now we all know how false that is scientifically...

its easy to look at flaws in the historical figures of the past based on modern knowledge.

hell if anything blacks are better people because of the bull shit they had to put up with.

This is such a weird take. Fuck Nazis. All of them. I don't really think context is relevant when you're following an ideology advocating for and committing genocide. Manipulating circumstance to claim innocence of people committing evil actions because "they were just following orders" is not only disingenuous, it's disgusting. You know who wasn't bad in Germany in during World War II? The people actually trying to help Jewish people escape. Not the Nazis "just following orders". Fuck off with this Nazi apologist bs.

I'm familiar. I think it's a reductionist take on what motivates people to follow an authority figure that doesn't take into consideration several variables. I don't think the psychological motivations really matter when you take into consideration the larger global context at the time. You have to remember that experiments happen in a vacuum, reality doesn't.

I'm also totally aware that the social climate and appeal to authority can motivate people to do horrendous things (which is already more than the Milgram experiment considers). But I don't think that justifies them. The context of history doesn't mean we should give deplorable actions a "pass". We can hold both history and ourselves accountable.

It was a great privilege when I was told that I would receive this award. I admire Margaret Sanger enormously. Her courage, her tenacity, her vision When I think about what she did all those years ago in Brooklyn, taking on archetypes, taking on attitudes and accusations flowing from all directions, Im really in awe of her. There are a lot of lessons we can learn from her life, from the causes she launched and fought for and scarified for so greatly. - Hillary Clinton

Yea, there were other racists elsewhere in the world. There will ALWAYS be other racists elsewhere in the world. I mean, just look at China and how it treats its non-chinese citizens. The difference here is that racism was already struggling in America and things like the civil rights movement were basically inevitable at that point.
