Random question: is Farah really popular in Japan or something? Because of the four side stories so far, we have two main characters, a poster boy, and Farah who I've never heard of despite checking in on Tales popularity polls regularly.

I don't know if the character is very popular, but Eternia is the 4th best selling game in the franchise according to wiki, and she is the most prominent female character in it, doesn't seem too out of place to me. But it also could just be to tie into the event.

You must have forgotten that she was part of the cameo trio fight in Symphonia. It was her, Meredy, and Garr.

I think she was fairly popular in the past.

I also think Namco just likes throwing her early in the Tales crossover games. Like I might have recalled her appearing early in Tales of Link and Rays as well, but I don't remember exactly.

Damn, what a difference the RNG can make. I was struggling with Battle Tower stage 28 until Velvet - the one who currently has 110% extra crit damage - proceeded to crit three times in a row. It was pretty much a walk after that.

Battle Tower Level 30 beaten on the first try, and I wish I could say I did something special but honestly the AI just completely outplayed themselves. They pretty much only ever attacked people that were in good health. Kanata was at 1% HP early on and I wrote him off so I could focus on keeping other people up and they proceeded to never attack him again. Then kept focusing Lloyd, who is literally the tankiest character in the game, while Misella kept the heals on him. No one except Kanata even came close to dying and the funny part is that one of the opponents had AoE, they just kept aiming it away from him.

Even without all that, I think if you can beat Level 28 and 29 then you can handle Level 30. There didn't seem to be a difficulty spike at all. I struggled with 28 and 29 and expected 30 to bust my balls, but it...well, didn't.

P.S. Remember to eat some food if you're struggling. +3% Attack absolutely made the difference for me in Level 28 and 29.

The only thing that's really tough with Floor 30 is you can't set up a type advantage, since it's not worth having a character who themselves are weak to the enemy.

But the actual unit setup and enemy abilities aren't a huge deal, as long as you manage the enemy Wildfire properly and early.

I didn't have Wildfire for any of the floors. Just muscled through it. I've grinded a LOT the past few days though. My job lets me afk autobattle raid a lot so I beefed up my characters a lot. Gotta make up for the lack of dupes somehow!

Not enough to get a reasonable number of Strange Cores, apparently. Seriously to get the last one to raise Kanonno from 80->90 I had to battle 15 times.

Also seriously I almost wish I recorded that Level 30 fight because it might be the dumbest case of AI RNG I've ever seen in a game. The fight lasted at LEAST 10 turns after Kanata dropped to almost death. When accounting for enemies dropping over time, I'd say they got in around 30 actions before I won, and that includes some AoE moves, and not one of them bothered to hit Kanata. Lloyd's tanky ass was a prime target for all their Mystic Artes though.

So are they ever going to include a reasonable way to acquire Strange Cores? It seems like by far the hardest thing to come across.

Hopefully the next event gives out Strange Cores. Rainbow Lens is just as bad for the other elements. Such balance.

I have been spending gels to get through hard and very hard in the side stories.

Spending a lot, but I'm stubborn. I want to just knock it out.

Team ordering and position really mattered for this. Having Sorey soak up the Wildfire to start and have Kohaku heal it was big. Then Misella to save Sorey/Kanata when she comes in and inevitably dies quickly was important too. Then Repede in the back to debilitate/tank

Do you want your tankiest person up front? Thats what I assumed but I havent looked into it

I don't think it really matters unless AI is programmed to do certain things, which they were in that fight for me. They would always Wildfire Slot 1 at the start.

I encountered the AI aiming status effects at slot 1 of my team a lot.

Got enough for another pull through side story gems, Cress and Vicious! FINALLY and earth unit....after I already mega leved Farah and Rokuro, lol. All good, they're both super useful, and I want enough for a mono team.

I'm gonna level Phillia up real high with the light potions I get today, meaning I'll finally have a damage dealing Light unit who's actually good, even if she's not an SSR. Also can put the SSR Spada on her for the major attack boost. Infinite poison as well!
