Youtube has a video editor where you can add stationary blur or blur that moves with an object. You still have to fiddle with the size of the blur a bit, but it works really well.

When you get in, it will tell you that a sentry mode event was recorded. I had just been ignoring it because 99.99% of the time it's just someone walking by or walking around the car checking it out.

Originally, you had to take the USB drive out, put it in your phone or your computer, then watch the video that way. They released a couple software updates. recently to make reviewing the video easier, though. They released one that allows you to watch the recorded events right in the center display. Then another that puts a red dot on time in the ~10 minute video that caused the car to record an event.

I was checking out the feature with the red dot on the saved videos. I'm fortunate that I got a garage at my apartment complex back in May. If I hadn't done that, this particular video would have been overwritten by a bunch of "incidents" of people at my apartment complex walking their dogs or taking out the trash.

I'm really hoping this guy puts in on his insurance like he said he would. Yesterday he was trying to say "it's just two spots on the paint," but they're going to have to repaint the whole door panel at the very least.

The company that did the ceramic coating said they would likely have to repaint across 3 panels for color matching purposes, but we'll see what they say. I've got the appointment at 3:30pm.

I never thought I would need sentry mode, but here we are. So glad I have the actual video.

So Mauro Garza recommended a scratch repair shop. Tesla recommends I take it to a shop that has a Tesla certified technician.

I called the one Mauro Garza recommended and they said their method leaves paint imperfections.

• I don't want paint imperfections on such a new car
• Having paint imperfections would interfere with the application of the ceramic coating

He seems understanding of that, so things are progressing.

I'm so annoyed at this whole situation

• His campaign workers said nothing about the incident that day and basically hoped I wouldn't notice
• He has no business insurance to cover this
• Probably going to have to put it on my insurance because I'll need a rental car twice in the process. Once while they're repainting and then a second time a couple weeks later when the paint has fully set to get the ceramic coating put on.

So much negligence going on

Talking to my insurance agent in about 20 minutes... I'm probably going to end up just asking him to cover the cost of the damages. I'd rather not file a claim on my insurance because of their negligence and attempt to hide it.

I'm in direct communication with Mauro Garza and I'm trying to be polite about it since he isn't denying the incident happened at all. The people who didn't say anything were apparently some volunteers working for him.

But if things go south today, I might make that a sticking point.

So far, though, he has been cooperative.

So State Farm said that since this falls under a comprehensive coverage claim where I'm not at fault, then my premium would not go up. However, if I'm caught in 3 hail storms (or a hail storm and a tree falls on my car, and I hit an animal in the road, or whatever combination of comprehensive claims) within 12 months and I have to file 3 more claims, then there is a risk that my premiums would go up even though they would all fall under comprehensive coverage...

So I have now asked for him to cover the full costs of the repairs without insurance.

Waiting on his response.
