Wonder if it makes it any better.

No its worse. Despite the fact season 4 suffered by having the cast apart for most of the episodes and the fact some characters had terrible episodes (George Sr. especially), the payoff was still quite good. The remix still has the characters separated (you can't refilm the cast together), and the structure with story payoff is sacrificed as a result.

It is way worse. The editing makes it way more difficult to follow. An incredibly stupid idea all around.

Oh okay. Just been watching random episodes here and there. I know season 3 is weaker and weirder but it still has hilarious moments. So weird that they actually got Charlize Theron in this, was she dating one of the cast members, doing one of the producers a favor, or what. I didn't even know she was in this back in the day. And she had just won the oscar too.

It is worth remembering that while AD was a small struggling sitcom, Ron Howard is still an extremely well-connected and accomplished director. He has favors to call in and people who want his favor.

And you know, since Fox did give arrested development 3 seasons, they didn't do it that much of a disservice, certainly not like they did Firefly, which didn't even get half a season.

Eh part of that is how it got the three seasons and how part of it is shifting expectations on how long a show is supposed to last. With a modern sense three seasons is much more of a norm than it was back then, so it feels like a good run.

When airing AD was the perpetual underdog with each season feeling like it could be it's last. It was stressful for fans and naturally causes people to think poorly of Fox.

Firefly got done dirty by Fox in an entirely different way it didn't even have time to build up a dedicated fanbase before it was dead and it really wasn't until later that the show became a cult hit. Its fans never struggled alongside a dying show. They found its tomb late and went oh this was pretty good. It's a different sort of resentment.

Huh, even AD did reference on police violence when they arrest Oscar and constantly beat him with batons.

Ah I see. And plus Firefly didn't have a prolific director like Ron Howard associated with it. I didn't know he directed EdTv, I feel that's very fitting knowing that he'd later narrate Arrested Development.

Remember the cute publicist episode of season 1? I felt like that episode was a meta commentary on the show itself and how they can market it better.
