I'm not a part of the left or the right, I don't like our two party system, and I don't agree with either the demo part in general, or the republican party in general. I do though, actually care about people, this country and the world (even if i'm getting kinda old/cranky as time goes on).

They are currently trying to figure out what to do right now, as far as aid to people to help with the virus etc. Some want to extend the $600 a month bonus to unemployment etc. I personally think that is a bad idea. Others want to do absolutely nothing for the general public and just have everyone go back to work and school. I also think that is a bad idea.

In fact, I have not heard even one good idea being proposed right now, which has me a bit concerned. So I figured I'd ask if anyone had some actual good ideas that are not extremely one sided and that everyone could agree on.

I get that a UBI would be great and probably solve the problem for now, and it could be controlled pretty easy (IE stopped once the numbers were down almost right away). I don't think that is going to fly though. I do think it's FAR more fair then only giving money to people on unemployment and not giving anything to those doing "emergency" jobs like working at grocery stores, who are making significantly less than the people on unemployment right now.

So what is the solution?

I have a few suggestions.

First: A complete and total pause on rent for EVERYONE across the board, but a complete and total pause on mortgage payments (And interest accruing on them), and property taxes as well. Nobody pays ANYTHING until the virus is gone/under control This drastically reduces the cost of living of almost everyone, working or not. This is a benefit to those who are working emergency jobs, and also helps though who have to stay at home.

Second: government assisted/paid for delivery services that are specifically trained and geared towards contactless delivery to anyone who needs it, for free, in a timely manner. This keeps people out of grocery stores and ensures they can really stay at home.

Third a food allowance for every american who needs it (I would base this on income from the previous year I guess and make it available to anyone who made less than 40k last year (or 80k if it's a couple/family etc). The food allowance is only $50 per week ($100 for a couple, and and extra 20$ per kid). It can only be used for food.

Finally a utility/internet fund that is provided to help people who are struggling pay their utility /internet bills, to ensure americans who are forced to stay at home have something to do besides blow their brains out.

Finally, a strong push for EVERYONE to stay at home and social distance as much as feasibly possible, along with additional programs to help ensure that is very possible for everyone. Even emergency job workers would be helped to remain away from other people as much as possible. This would continue until the numbers are squashed like in other parts of the world (hopefully if implemented quickly, in the next few months.

Schools would remain closed for now, but just start later in the year (and end later than normal) after the numbers are under control.

That wouldn't solve everything, but it's more fair, and it would provide a method to get everythign under control in the shortest time possible.

What do you all think, and what are your suggestions if you don't like this one?
