He died in my arms, purring.

When my first cat, Tails (yes named after the Sonic character, as me and my brother picked the name lol), passed away, the night before she died she was a purr machine. She snuggled with everyone and purred like hell. She had diabetes and a UTI. As a cat that was 10+ years old it was pretty clear she was gonna pass soon and it was sad. But I'm so glad we got to give her the happy life she had. She was abandoned as a kitten and my dad ended up saving her life after an employee of his left her to stay at his office for a whole weekend as he found out he couldn't keep a kitten. So instead of letting the cat die my dad actually let us keep her. He was 100% a 'no pet' kinda dude, but he fell in love with her too.

Cats are great. I should get one now...

So sorry to hear this! But the one positive is that Sniper had a happy life being loved by you, even if it was a short life. Your original post made me so happy and even though it ended sadly, it made me hopefully of the goodness in people despite all the craziness that is going on in the world. Hang in there.

Thanks people. I am still somewhat a wreck. Everytine i pass the sofa and see the perch (he loved resting on the arm rest) i get teary eyed.

I honestly never felt lonely before sniper. I don't really have irl social life and i am very fine with it. I most of the time dislike companies and honeslty dealing with people from work is exhausting enough. I love it when i spend time chilling alone.

Sniper was different (mostly because he couldn't speak lol) He showed me how it feels to be lonely and missing someone.

Last video i took before sniper passed. It's our final nap together. They gave us a room to rest and nap for a bit. He napped, purred, i just sobbed for 30 minutes straight

I finally have the courage to open it, maybe share it so people remember too. In the end he just wanted love and comfort. I still wished i could do more

im sorry this happened TC. im glad to hear that you gave him all the love he could get even with a short life. he was happy when he died and thats the best thing you could do for him. from what im seeing, it sounds like he really loved you and you loved him too. any animal you adopt will be so happy to have you. it sucks that sniper passed away but you gave him the best life he could ever have.

Oh man, I got all choked up watching that and now I'm crying as I type this. He's such a sweet little guy. Gdi you and he deserved so many years together, but at least you gave him a good home for a time and he didn't have to die alone and afraid. You're a good man, apolloooo.

It's all good, you aren't attention whoring. You're seeking support in a time of grief, which is natural and healthy. It helps process the loss. I think you mentioned earlier that you don't have much of a social circle and you're comfortable with that, plus with covid it's difficult and potentially dangerous to seek out in-person support, so CE is somewhere you can share these memories and show a small handful of people from across the world what a great kitty Sniper was. And CE loves animals, so while this is sad I think most of us want to learn about Sniper and his story. Damn it, I'm crying again...

Fly high Sniper :( I watched your video TC and it nearly broke me, he was so content just lying there with you, as if to tell you that, though it may hurt for a while, everything was going to be okay.

Go ahead and start looking for another kitten. It WILL help you cope. When mine passed, I had to immediately find another one because his brother started going crazy. He would look for him everywhere and became extremely clingy and would moan/cry all day and night. He wouldn't leave my side. I figured while he'd know it wasn't his brother, he'd still find comfort in another cat.

So within the month, I was able to get him a little 8 week old female kitten playmate. At first, he was like "who the fuck are you?". He'd just sniff her and kept patting her head. Like "get the fuck away from me"

But within a month, they started getting along really well. They're now inseparable and it definitely helped me and him cope through the loss. You can tell they love each other. If I seperate them, they immediately start freaking out.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the mother cat is pregnant again. They usually give birth in March/April, then again in June/July, and depending on the region, again around September/October, though those usually don't survive because of the winter. She could have even given birth already and is hiding them. They're very crafty in how well they can hide their babies. Just don't take them from her before 8 weeks.

Completely off topic, but Infinity weren't you the one who had a kitten with a wound on her belly (possibly by mother)? If so how many of them did you keep?

You did the absolute best you could and you have a massive heart. I'm sorry this was the end result, but that kitty likely wouldn't have made it another day if it wasn't for your care and responsiveness to try and help him.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is never easy. I had to have one of my cats put to sleep about a month ago and it still tears me up to see the places he used to sleep being empty.

Thank you for staying with Sniper at the end. You gave him love when he needed it the most.

Yes. I still have both and they're doing amazing. It's tough trying to adopt them out during a pandemic/summer combined with me not really wanting to let them go and being lazy. They were basically born right in front of me, so there's a very strong parental attachment I've never felt before.

However, me and my GF can't handle 4 cats. I already let the mother cat out and she lives outside and just comes for food. Wouldn't be surprised she's pregnant again. Once things settle down, I'm gonna get her spayed.
