He's just that good. It's kinda silly to discredit him because the rest of his team sucks. BreezyExcursion 07/19/20 10:50:21 PM #7:	I think this question is too difficult for me to answer, but I will make a couple of points: Usain Bolt clearly wins over Phelps, who is highly overrated. # of Olympic Gold Medals is a bullshit metric to use because of how many events a sprint swimmer can compete in (between various strokes and relays). Phelps has ZERO world records that are not relays. Usain Bolt has World Records, and medals in everything that a short sprinter in Track and Field can compete in. If Olympics Track and Field contested 55m, 4x200m, 150m, 4 different kids of Sprint Medley Relay, etc. Usain would have just as many medals as Phelps. Stephen Curry is definitely not #1 but will probably be underrated by most. No sport has been changed as much in the last 10 years as basketball, and he basically did it singlehandedly. Unfortunately for him, his time in the limelight was only two or three years. Adding Durant to that Warriors team certainly doesn't help for his legacy, I think it's now generally agreed upon that Durant was the best player on the team in the last years of the Warriors dynasty. I give LeBron extra credit for how well he has marketed himself. Everyone knows LeBron James whether you watch basketball or not. He is Nike's successor to Jordan and Kobe, and there are more people who wear LeBron gear than merch for anyone else on the list. I think Tom Brady is the greatest NFL player of all time. I also don't think he/the Patriots cheat any more than any other NFL team, but I think he loses an edge because of how widespread the belief is that the Patriots didn't play fair and that the league was rigged for them. In soccer I think it's too hard to pick the greatest player. The best players do not compete against each other regularly because of how international the game is, and it is more of a team game than any of the other sports. If I had to pick one, I really hate to say it but it's probably Floyd Mayweather. I don't give a fuck about boxing but the man is undefeated. They had been calling him out for years for ducking Manny Pacquiao, but he did fight him and beat him. Every other athlete on the list has lost. Every other athlete on the list is routinely scared. LeBron James ducks out of meaningless All-Star dunk contests. I wouldn't even put Mayweather in the same league, even in his own sport. There are a few of Mayweathers wins that have been questionable.
