Welcome to the King of Fighters 2020 (NOT MERCS) Simulated Character Battle Tournament!

The game is simple. The two* listed characters are placed in an (imaginary) location with a variety of (imaginary) environments, kind of like a picture in a child's schoolbook that describes different types of geological features. Within a ten mile radius, there is an (imaginary) urban downtown, exurbs, plains, snow-clad mountains at the edge, dry plains, etc. Fighters start wherever is most appropriate for them, but feel increasingly compelled to seek out their opponent and fight. Strong-willed fighters can try to hold out in their chosen environment for longer... eventually, all will succumb and actively search for the other to battle.

To participate, just vote in bold for whichever character you believe will win. Giving reasoning is optional, but please be polite and read what others have said and carefully make your decision. I'll ping the nominators (they can opt out) to give arguments if they wish.

Freakazoid can hear a monk raking leaves from halfway around the world, run there in seconds, and tell him to knock it off. I'm not sure if he ever demonstrates this level of speed again, but he certainly could if it were funny. He's one of those characters.

I barely know anything about Freakazoid but he just looks like the kind of character that would find out he's fighting a werewolf and then suddenly have a giant silver whack-a-mole hammer that's on fire

As I recall, Fables gain power based on the belief in them. As such... I kind of wonder if Freakazoid making constant references to Bigby and being just the embodiment of everyone's collective knowledge on the internet wouldn't make Bigby's healing factor just become utterly ridiculous.

This is actually kind of interesting. Bigby's damage output might not be enough to put Freakazoid down, but I wonder if Freakazoid can put Bigby away either with this strong healing factor? It's also worth noting that Bigby has ridiculous stamina, like apparently he was able to run and fight for two months straight without stopping.

Here's a Freakazoid durability feat: he gets repeatedly slammed into the ground hard enough to break concrete, and is fine a few seconds later:

He breaks the fourth wall in a number of ways. He might even be able to talk to the creator of Fables, or Bigby's voice actor. He's done it with his own show. Maybe he could talk to NFUN and get put in a better match, or even have NFUN rig it for him! (I am seriously not joking. He does stuff like this all the time.)

Freakazoid seems like The Mask or Bugs Bunny, doing basically whatever he wants and usually only losing through ordinary means if it would be funny.

Could Bigby convince Freak that it would be funnier for him to job this, and is that something he would even try to do?

See this is an extremely compelling argument and makes me ALMOST want to vote Bigby

but then I think "oh Freakazoid will just go to every person on Earth individually and tell them the Big Bad Wolf doesn't exist"

the issue is whether he can figure out to do that. Either way, he definitely randomly has silver weapons as soon as he sees he's fighting a werewolf

well, either way, it seems like if we all vote for freakazoid this will make him strong enough to win, and this is an outcome which I am in favor of. especially because it sets a terrible precedent which can lead to more hilarity, drama, and fun down the line.

Normally I'd say that you can't interact with other people for these fights, but I think if anybody gets an exception for this, it's Freak. And he absolutely has silver

The one thing keeping me from voting Freak is that Bigby's just really genre savvy because, well, he lives in a world of stories. He could prep for a fight and, if Freak doesn't win in that opening salvo, Bigby can basically go "oh. He's one of those, like a genie". Bigby was basically the fairy tale police and private eye for around 400 years. I can just as easily imagine him talking it out and saying:

"Hey Freakazoid, there's a man in a cute penguin suit giving out snowcones, wanna go?"

And then they go get snowcones and Bigby just talks to him for a while, learns that Freakazoid can un-transform, asks him to show him, and snaps the unpowered Dexter Douglas's neck. And then Freakazoid's ghost beats himself up for a while.

Freakazoid isn't as inherently murderous as Ipkiss, Bugs, or Popeye. If this essentially goes more than a handful of minutes, and with Bigby's healing factor that's a very strong possibility, I don't see a reality where Freakazoid wins that battle of wits.

I'll go Bigby, but I forget Freakazoid's bigger feats outside of "is a cartoon". Conventional conversation tends to be what beats him more often than not.

The big question is not can the Freakazoid win.. the question is can it be made sufficiently FUNNY. If not, he wont win. Let's put it this way, I'd expect the meeting being along the lines of "Hey there, I'm having a problem! Something in my mind is telling me to punch you right smack in the face, but that doesn't seem nice at all! I mean seriously, why would I just randomly get the idea of punching someone that I don't know smack in the face, it might be Gutierrez messing with me again, have you ever met him? He's a crazy guy, kinda like me but evil, ihhh, so evil... oh, why do I want to so punch you in the face, this is giving me a headache, what's your name anyway, I'm so bad on that sometimes."

I mean, if Bigby wolf could both 1. stop wanting to punch him, going against the stage programming, and 2. distract Freakazoid sufficiently, something that is said randomly could immediately just break the train of thought, making Freakazoid just immediately leave the entire combat area. "Hey, are you just saying this to make it that I leave this admittedly large area to do something, so you are declared the victor?" "Maybe." "Just making sure!"

I unfortunately don't know enough about Bigby to make an educated vote on this.

I think there are a ton of ways that freak kid loses this hilariously. Also, there is so much contradictory information on the internet, I mean just the three little pigs and red riding hood have like tons of different variations on the same story. I think I formation overload causes freakazoid to try and combine every single possibility into one calamitous but hilarious act and thus loses to something super obvious. Bigby

So yeah. Bigby probably takes it. There's lots of different ways this fight can go, but Bigby likely has a counter for a lot of them, and Freakazoid wouldn't go for the kill right away.
