42 y/o Father, John Place from Plantation, Florida is fighting for his life after getting COVID-19 from his SON who brought it HOME with him after ignoring his parent's advice to stay home and not gather with friends!!

He is in the ICU at Westside Regional Medical Centre where he was put on a ventilator for 2 weeks as his ENTIRE family all tested positive for COVID-19 last month when his 21 y/o son went out partying with friends and unknowingly brought it back to their home

Place was the only one required hospitalization after 4 days of fever and nonstop coughing who has been in the hospital for 3 weeks

His wife, Michelle Zymet repeatedly plead with her stepson who is not being named to wear a mask and not go out with friends

She said "He always assured me. Don't worry mom, i'm doing everything right. relax, chill. You know how these kids are, so i trusted him"

She begged him to think about his dad who is at higher risk because he is overweight and diabetic but despite her plea, he did it anyways and gathered with friends to party and drink

Days later he felt cold symptoms and a friend at the get together told him she tested positive but it was too late as the family was already infected

She said "You let your guard down just one time, it's all it takes. You come home and you infect the entire house"

This is the fear many have of the virus who fear the surge in cases hitting younger floridians and bringing it back to elderly people and more vulnerable people

Zymet said kids don't necessarily listen and it could be peer pressure as they say "Maybe they think, none of us are sick, we are fine. They don't understand many of us are asymptomatic and are positive carriers of the virus"

The 21 y/o is not speaking ot the media and initially told his parents he thought iwas just a cold and even when his friend told him she had it, he still didn't think it was but members of the family started falling ill one at a time starting with his 14 y/o brother who is also overweight and was wheezing, coughing and lethargic

The 6 y/o sister had a runny nose and the stepmother was achy with fever and chills

With Place unable to work, friends of the family started a gofundme to help raise funds for them as they brace hefty medical bills

Zymet has been called an AWFUL MOTHER and EVIL WITCH for blaming her stepson but she thought it was important to tell the truth

Florida has surpassed 300,000 cases and is now the epicentre of the virus as Gov. Ron DeSantis is still not making masks mandatory and not shutting down businesses again

We're talking about a 21 year old, he is old enough to know better and to be called out for what he did. He needs to learn his actions have consequences, the person people should be upset with is the one who infected their entire family that includes kids and higher risk individuals.

It sounds like the son lied to them about being careful, and that's why he deserves most of the blame.

If he was honest, they would have had the option to tell him to GTFO, since he's legally an adult. I doubt they would have, since the dad looks like a nice dude from those before pictures, but at least they'd have had the chance to decide to assume the risk.

if given the chance to go back in time i'm sure the father would've locked him out no problem
that's what some parents did when kids wanted to go to spring break during the covid (couldn't come back until the quarantine is over).

I remember an article a couple of months ago where the dad actually forced his son to stay in the car for 2 weeks. Food & other provisions are provided of course, the dad's not a monster.
