We were all exhausted and ready to go to bed around 1:30 AM when we noticed him struggling to stand up after all the sleeping he did. He retched a little and out came almost all blood.

That was the last straw for me, but what's crazy is that my brother and sister both also decided that it was okay at that time without any of us having to question the act.

We found a nice 24/7 vet nearby and they took care of us in a few moments. Right on the couch in the room and everything. They kept saying he might make a sound or have unnatural movements during the actual deed but he was a good boy right up to the end, nice and relaxed the whole way through and I'm really proud of that. They did have that stupid fucking Rainbow Bridge poem up in the comfort room that was my one weakness and I actually had to ask them to remove it before I lost it, and thankfully they did.

I still have my poodle and he's only 7-8 so plenty of time left with him. I just hope I don't end up hating what I did tonight; it all was decided so suddenly.

That's fair.

I didn't think I'd have the stones to stay, but he was looking at me and he kinda just fell back asleep when I petted his head, so I kept petting his head as they did it. I'd like to think he just went to sleep on his own from my headpatting.

Been a both relaxing and emotional day for me. Friends came over and we did some relaxing things like shopping and checking out that Eric Andre special on Netflix (7/10)

Random periods occurred where I'd think of a single thing about my dog and start choking up, quickly followed by me recovering. It's too fucking easy for me to feel sad lately.

I'd feel like I'm having mood swings if it wasn't for how recently this all was.

As someone who still has a poodle who just turned 8, please don't feel bad. The best is yet to come for your pooch, and mine too. I never thought I'd have the balls to do this, but the past week has done a lot to strengthen my resolve.

I was on a couch and they offered to even bring him over to me. After that it seemed so obvious to do, although I'm still kinda traumatized.
