Everything subject to change for now.

Stuff:
- Ratings 1-10, no decimals. If you include a decimal, I will round down.
- We will do two ratings for each character character (CH) & unit (UN). They will be separate lists and you do not have to rate for both lists. Character rating is for design, personality, aesthetics, story, etc. and unit rating for everything gameplay related. If you only submit one rating and dont specify which, it will default to the character rating.
- You are free to rate any characters from past days or change your rating.
- Nominations for future characters are accepted. This does not guarantee your noms will be up for rating the next day but they will be moved up the queue for sooner rather than later.
- You obviously do not have to rate everything, just the ones you want.
- No regular schedule (e.g. Day 2 will not necessarily come ~24 hours after Day 1)

Micaiah is tough to rate because her design is great and her personality for the most part is pretty appealing, but then with the way the plot forces the two sides against each other she's corralled into making pretty dumb decisions.

That was me. Reading through the arguments for him....I don't see the hype. He starts the game promoted and serves as a sink for exp that would be better used leveling other characters. Because of that, I never use him, so I'll retract my rating.

The fact that he starts promoted is a big part of the reason why a lot of people consider him one of the best units in the series. His stats outclass everyone else's by so much that he can be looked at as a foolproof part of your strategy i.e. you may have to consider whether or not your other units may do well in certain situations but with Marcus it's guaranteed he will do well. Even if you don't explicitly use him for combat, he can serve as bait to draw out other enemies for your weaker units to pile on or as super flexible rescue option. He has all the options actually.

It's basically that while you will have to invest time into other units to make them good, Marcus is good from the start and can even facilitate your other units into being good.

Since the character rating is basically just "how much do i like this character" sometimes i'll just ignore some aspects while having another weigh more. like there are going to be some characters that i will instantly give a 10 just off appearance i don't give a fuck loll.

Ok so the first thing to tackle here is that "wasting EXP" isn't really a thing, especially in a game with such powerful pre-promotes like FE7. Every single game has been completed on 0% growths. Marcus is far-and-away the best unit during the early parts of E/H mode, which are generally the hardest parts of the game, and FE7 enemies lategame are weak enough that he never really loses relevance. Marcus is a god when you need a savior the most- worrying that's he's stealing EXP from weaker units is a pitfall.

Leon is too one note for my liking but hey, at least they tried to make him good even if they only partially succeeded. Thracia ruined Leif. Florina's gimmick is obnoxious, Micaiah is basically a good character in a game that doesn't handle her well, and Mercedes is likable enough.

Leon is fairly good. Leif is good for the Munster chapters but after that he doesn't matter much because it's Thracia, but he does have supports to give when you need them and he'll tend to be on steroids from whatever early game stat boosters you didn't dump into Asbel. Florina is amazing with Lyn Mode and its stat boosters, flight + solid combat is hilarious. Her stats are abysmal without Lyn Mode but I generally judge FE7 units with Lyn Mode included. Micaiah can chip in here and there but frail and low speed and enemies having good res and staffs being arguably at their worst all add up to...me thinking that maybe 4 is too generous, but what the hell, I'll be nice. Mercedes isn't a game changer but she's always doing something good for you.

yep! this was already the plan but i was waiting until we hit around 25 total ratings since the current plan is to have a top 20 and bottom 5 or 10 running list (+units from previous day if they fall outside that) for a while.

Don't really have much to say about these ones. Florina is fine as a character but her hyper timidness gets annoying at times. As a unit I typically prefer the other pegasus knights to her but she's still really good when I use her so I this is just a personal preference thing for me. I've always like Micaiah and is one of the only FE10 exclusive characters that gets any sort of development so that's something at least. I also think she's one of the few magic users in FE10 that's even worth a damn as a combat unit. Mercedes is also just kind of fine to me. Bit bland and she was only really good for healing during my BL run but she did that task really well so hey.

Leon's a bit of a gay stereotype but I like him, he gets solid dialogue and is treated pretty respectfully. Bows are pretty damn good in Echoes so he's a very solid unit too, though not exactly dominant.

I like Leif well enough. His story of living in the shadow of more impressive crusaders like Seliph and Ced is compelling and he grows a lot on his way to becoming their equal.

Florina's a personal fave, I don't find her annoying at all like some people do and I think she fits in well with Lyn and the other members of Lyn's party. I'm maybe overrating her a bit because Fiora is more reliable, but Florina just shows up so early and is so consistently useful that she's really a top unit unless she gets screwed by bad level ups (obviously STR being the most common one).

Micaiah sux. Thani is great though, and Sacrifice is... uh, situationally not-useless. She'd be a little higher if she wasn't so likely to end up underleveled for part 4/end game, but honestly the hardest part of the game is by far the beginning and she's one of the more reliable units there.

I go back and forth on how much I like Mercedes. She has some really terrible lines but most of the time I like her well enough (I had Byleth marry her on my first playthrough). She has a really cute friendship with Annette and bounces off Sylvain pretty well too. As a unit she was a generic healbot for me before eventually getting to drop some hurt as a gremory. Very useful if not impressive.

Cut Leif and Mercedes completely as I don't even have the former in Feh and I've barely used the latter to get a minor grip on her character.

Leon is the token flirt, as every FE has at least one. At least once we got down to adding full personalities through supports and the like, I don't know who's a flirt in 4/5... Granted, having trouble thinking of who it'd be in the Marth remakes too. Of course, Leon is like... the third or fourth gay flirter in the series (though if I'm counting right, the second guy who flirts with guys). At least he isn't forced to cave like Niles though. Good for him.

I also cut Micaiah's unit because I haven't actually progressed all the way through RD. Last time my friend and I were playing we were inside Part 3 I believe it was, so haven't gotten her upgraded unit. Thani was pretty cool and it was great to have a mage Lord character. Just to say, I do know she wasn't the first but I hadn't even tried Gaiden at the time. She personally is pretty nice, just straight up a better Eliwood in some cases, at least in Part 1.

Now Florina. There was a time when Florina was my favorite character and you'd understand based on my personality. I loved her as a unit and just her shyness. Then it fell off as I found other favorites. Both liking better Pegasus Knights, and liking other female units more. Hell, she's not even my favorite Pegasus Knight in FE7 nowadays. Oh, but it can't be stressed enough that Florina's strengths as a unit comes from having Lyn Mode. Can over-level her there and then her mobility is top notch.

Leon is the only archer on Celica's route (unless you meme and make Atlas one) in a game where bows are really good.

Leif isn't that great, but I have to give him a huge boost for being one of the best guys you have in Manster. He's the only guy with 1-2 range until Fergus gets B swords (or you recruit Asbel, but Fergus really should've ranked up by then). Afterwards, he's basically just support, giving support bonuses to like half the army, plus you can give him Pan's King Sword to give him Charm.

Florina's great. She would be a 9, but I docked her a point for being much worse without Lyn mode.

Micaiah has the disadvantage of being a mage in the game where mages are at their worst. She gets a 5 for staff utility and sacrifice, which is enough to put her below Roy for worst lord in the series.

Mercedes has a fairly good white magic learnset, plus live to serve gives her a bit more ability to do stuff on enemy phase than your normal healer. An altogether solid unit.

I fully understand that, but I was always more of the shy girl fan, so first FE girl that caught my eye there. I definitely have shied away from crippling shyness like hers though. Though funnily enough my favorite female from the GBA games is definitely not shy.
