Does Trump have no culpability? Certainly he has some. I mean, he represents the United States. Even if he doesn't personally make the bad decision, he's ultimately responsible as the President right?

Yes, absolutely. I personally allow him some leeway since the info we got out of the WHO was completely all over the place, but he still had to do a better job for the citizens of this country. He could've set a better example.

Do not misunderstand me, here. Trump has blame. It starts at the top, but a lot of you guys don't go any further than him because it's politically convenient for you to do so.

Considering the CDC is part of his cabinet, and that he is the public figure head during a pandemic, but makes explicit statements about how overblown he thinks the threat is, he absolutely deserves as much blame as possible.

So they knowingly lied to the American public? Why should anyone believe anything they have to say now?

Because many people on mass, hoarding and scalping face masks on an alarming rate here in the U.S. to the point that hospitals were running on no face masks for the workers and patients. They basically lied to help hospitals have more access to them, but they at least had good intentions in doing so. Can't say the same about Trump who's whole agenda lying to the US public was so that he can get reelected in November by calling the virus a Democrat hoax and fake news.

So (again) in your first post, you make an inaccurate statement and then just repeat it here. But let's say you are right - Trump couldn't have known differently. Then why did Trump claim he understood viruses and epidemiology better than experts, especially after his visit to the CDC?

Okay, but how do we know they aren't currently lying about something because they think it's in everyone's best interest. They could've laid out the situation and told people to use alternative methods (homemade masks) and gone after the scalpers hard to make examples of them.

Their credibility is damaged in the eyes of many and that's not what we need right now

Trump changed with the information, too. We closed down. He agreed to the recommendations set forth by Fauci. He agrees people should wear masks. I don't know why he doesn't wear one on camera, but it's really nothing more than virtue signaling and setting a good example. He's been tested. He doesn't have the damn virus. Because this entire thing has gotten overly political. I mean, if I only had access to CE, I'd think Trump created the virus himself on purpose and desired to kill people because he's a Disney Super villain. Regardless of what you think of the man, I can assure you; especially in an election year, he didn't want people to DIE. This was a massive failure starting where it began and the dominoes kept falling, and falling, and falling (he is one of the dominoes; don't misunderstand. A domino that could've made better decisions). IMO: I don't think ANY President could've escaped this without heavy damage.

Dude, they did. The CDC was giving guidelines out on how to make home made masks and telling everyone to leave the disposable face masks to medical workers and first responders since February and they were cracking down on scalpers by giving a government mandate on all Medical Suppliers and Warehouses to put purchasing restrictions on PPE's, Online stores like Amazon were even cracking down on the scalpers... and it STILL didn't stop people from hoarding and scalping them. Remember we live in a very individualistic society here in the US where the thought process is more "selfish" in nature, in comparison to S. Korea and Japan where they're more collectivist in thinking. Even when they both were in pandemic, none of them had face masks shortages ever because people were hoarding them over there. This was one of the ways they tried to discourage behavior, so yes while it was scummy they lied they at least did it with good intention. Can't say the same about Trump though.

Trump is one of the main reasons this has become political. He polticized wearing masks. He politicized the virus itself.

And now we have Trump supporters far and wide refusing to wear masks and throwing hissy fits in stores when asked to wear masks. Even coughing, spitting, and otherwise attacking people for being asked to wear a mask.

He made people who attended his coronafest rally sign disclaimers that they won't sue him when they inevitably get sick. He doesn't care who dies as long as he gets what he wants

It's a free country. Republicans tend to think people can make decisions on their own behalf. We don't like Mommy and Daddy Gov't restricting us. If a person didn't feel comfortable going to the rally, they didn't have to go to the damn rally. Purely for legal reasons. Adults can make their own decisions.

We were promised after 3 months of quarantining that we would flatten the curve. It's only natural for humans to want to get out and about. It's human nature. Secondly, a lot of these people saw what was happening on the news. And while most of us agree with the peaceful protests, there was a lot of hypocrisy going on when it came to crowd size. I will say Trump should've had his rally outdoors, though. No excuse for that.

Majority of them have 1 thing in common, they're mostly right wingers/conservatives/republicans. Overblowing it? He's directly responsible for holding a rally in which they removed social distancing signs and had people sitting shoulder to shoulder with each other, then making them sign a waiver so can't sue him if they get sick.
