Overblowing it? He's directly responsible for holding a rally in which they removed social distancing signs and had people sitting shoulder to shoulder with each other, then making them sign a waiver so can't sue him if they get sick.

That's called being up front with the people. Letting people make an adult decision. It's saying "I'm honest with you; by participating you COULD get COVID 19 and if you're comfortable with that; I don't want you suing me, the government, the state of Oklahoma, the venue, etc etc"

It's called taking advantage of people, which is something Trump has a long documented history of doing. Trump is more worried about looking bad than he is about the lives of people who vote for him.

I thought he admitted to lying about masks because of the supply shortage. I mean, I don't blame him. But this would probably be seen as a bigger deal if Trump didn't lie so much.

I'd have to defer to someone more knowledgeable if his claim for changing his stance was solely to conserve PPE for healthcare workers. I work in healthcare, and I also browse the medicine subreddit when I get downtime. I remember back in January and February when the pandemic was a growing concern in that community, before the general public was made painfully aware of it, that there was no data on whether or not masks were effective at preventing transmission or exposure. Not insufficient data, just flat-out none. I remember Fauci not recommending masks, not because masks did nothing, but because we didn't know if they were effective.

When does Trump start taking any responsibility? I mean if you want to say him saying don't wear masks is tons of mistakes, what about you organizing events with no masks and socials distancing? And it was before we knew it spread asymptomatically too. He wanted people who had symptoms to stay home, not just go out in masks thinking that was ok.

People aren't acting like he's the sole authority on anything corona related. He's just one of the US's leading experts on infectious diseases. His past mistakes are also not being ignored. They have been directly addressed.

And you literally just acknowledged that Fauci himself says he isn't the only authority.
