it's weird, more recent Sonic games almost seem to have a self awareness about how bad they are.

Sonic generations made a point of poking fun at some of the problems with modern Sonic.

Sonic Lost World is genuinely worse than Sonic 06, IMO. 06 is broken in such a way that you can make your own fun. Lost World is simultaneously poorly designed and very polished, so it's just plain bad.

Ewwwww 06. Its the opposite for me on that one lmaoo. Ill never touch 06 not with that awful 5 minute loading, worser physics, forced corridor levels and other stuff that game to me lmaoo.
I do agree the flaws lost world got and just thought it was refreshing from the boost gameplay it's been getting around that time.

Yeah Lost World is what happens when you take a 2d Sonic game and try to translate it to 3d with literally no context.

I actually agree with you on this.

Sonic 06 is just a busted-ass unfinished mess, but mechanically it's at least playable and coherent.

Lost World is, mechanically, a total train wreck of design choices that are seemingly scientifically-engineered to make the game less fun to play.

It's a broken bug fest. How is that mechanically playable or coherent in any context? Pokedude's point was basically while 06 and Lost World are both trash, the former is such a glitchy mess that you can laugh at it. Lost World doesn't have anywhere near as many bugs, so it's just boring to play.

Maybe you could say Sonic 2006 had better concepts and ideas than Lost World, but that doesn't mean much when the game is glitchy.

The main issue I had with the game was that by the time I got used to the controls that was it, the game was already over.

Sonic Battle was legit great
Secret Rings was also really good, especially considering it came out when basically all other Sonic games were awful

Secret Rings controls were trash; it becomes more playable once you unlock better controls, but having to unlock better controls? Lol

Black Knight actually improved the controls, letting you move Sonic with a basic analog stick, but it was ruined by the garbage sword mechanics and level design

Uhh what? I have played it. I literally had to force myself to finish shadows and silvers story as well. It was a giant waste of time that I one and done it. Story was even more dumber. But hey to each own.
Ehh if u mean like having fun with the constant glitches that even darkspinesonic finds and dumb stuff you can do then meh. I know theres a pc mod fixes some of the issues for that game.

I honestly never understood the hatred for Lost World. Its fine. Probably its biggest sin is having such a gimmicky level design and still being forgettable.

Though I havent played the PC version so maybe they fucked it up somehow. Still, I feel like Im in the twilight zone when they say Sonic 06 was playable.

Like, remember in Sonic Heroes where youre trying to line up Knuckles formation for a triple loop? And then the controls go all fucky and everyone ends up shooting off into weird directions for no reason? Thats Sonic 06, except all the time.
